Emerson DVD2000
have had this player for several months now and have no complaints. For the price this is a fully functional player with excellent anamorphic playback. The only movie I have ever had any trouble with is the matrix (some action sequences repeat the first second of the 'bullit time' special f/x). The remote is absolutely excellent.

I was not very impressed with the Emerson DVD2000. It could never play the 'Matrix'. I now wish that I would have purchased a higher end DVD player. The audio/video quality was not very impressive.

For the price, this is a great value. Do not expect to have all the bells and whistles for what you pay for. This model offered more functions and features than others in it's price range. An excellent first-time buyer model.

Not a bad dvd player for the price. Had trouble watching The Matrix, but once i switched over to S-video, and bought a nice expensive s-video cable, the glitches disappeared (repeating scenes). So im kinda happy now.

I have had the dvd player for some time now and I like it but the thing takes about 10 minutes to get it up and going. i think there is something wrong with mine.

Well i thought this was just about the coolest DVD player around.. Bought it at a Target for $159.00 and it played the Matrix perfectly.. Its been about 3 months now and It now freezes randomly during the movie, at which time the only function that works is on/off which takes about 7 seconds for any effect after the button is pressed.. It almost seems as if the system is overheating. Wonder why they didnt put any ventilation holes on this thing? Every other DVD iv looked at hase some..

I had recieved the DVD player this past Christmas, and mine too didn't play the Matrix correctly( repeated scenes) I Switched it to S-Video and the repeated scenes occured also, I returned the disc( due to a rumor of Defunct Matrix DVDs) and the problem still occured. What should I do now ?

Mine was refurbished and i got it for 109.00$ as an inexpensive 2nd dvd to be able to take to friends. I have had no problem with the player or the matrix. I paid 109.00 for my first decent walkman. such a deal!

I've had mine for almost a year now and it pauses on chapter changes on alot of movies, it does the scene repeat thing on the matrix, and plays like a scratched record on ID4. It also will not play any of the remote control interactive games such as Dragons Lair. I placed an ad in a Raytheon classifieds paper and no one would buy it, even for the 1/2 price cut I offered. Stay away from this one.

Does not work past chapter 20 with THE PATRIOT. Pretty much has problems with all of the new titles out there. Was told that I needed a firmware upgrade. Have to send it to a warehouse that does not even have any ties with Emerson. They were outsourced by Emerson to fix their players. And I won't even get it back for 2 to 3 weeks.

The DVD is cool, but I have a problem. I can't watch my movies because I forgot

This model will glitch during movies with high tech DVD-ROM encodings such as the Matrix. It's already an old model and should be avoided if possible. Get something that is more up to date with the current technology.

Emerson DVD2000
No DVD menu to turn off Region Encoding so you can watch DVD's purchased abroad (which are not released in the US BTW..). Spotty performance (overheats quite easily even with adequate ventilation). Have had to send it back to have the chipset updated twice since I've owned it.
