A colourful plot line and attractive characters make this series a must see for people who are interested in the shoujo genre.

It's much more mature in themes than some series like Sailor Moon that have become so popular due to mainstream TV play and as a result it may be a while before this series gets to some countries.

The story tells of a high school girl named Miaka, who (in a similar vein to Neverending Story) finds a magical book and gets dragged into a mythical world... in this case, ancient China. There she finds herself the centre of a quest to save a flagging nation and is entrusted the duty of finding 7 magical warriors with whose help she may summon a god and have her wishes granted.

The romantic interests in the story can come accross as sappy but the animation and character art is gorgeous. Tender romantic scenes are interspersed with superdeformed slapstick humour that is presented well and doesn't detract from the story.

Some people may find it a little difficult to deal with the homosexual attractions in the series. This will turn a lot of people off, and yet more annoyingly (for me at least) titilate others who fail to grasp such ideas with maturity.

Well I enjoyed it. I guess that's all I can say about it.

:::smiles::: This anime was very good, I think. The beginning was a bit better than the end, though. And for me, it was sort of boring when Tamahome went through with the kodoku and crap because I kept mixing it all up. Also, the Seiryuu characters were thought of as simply "evil" by most people. They were portrayed in that way, but they are really just misunderstood or tricked into the decisions they made. Also, Miaka should have been paired with Tasuki, Hotohori, or Amiboshi because they seem to be better connected with her than Tamahome. Tamahome....he was way too unrealistic. That's why I don't like him. A couple where they were friends but also loved each other would have been better. Their relationship was too perfect. 0;)~

It has a decent story line with a few twists along the way, perfect for ppl just getting into anime. Enjoyed it all the way, really wished the animation could have been better.

I like it but nothing is compared to ranma 1/2. It was a good one (Fushigi Yuugi). It was my second favorite of all. It was an original cartoon. The artist itself has a good imagination. I like the story,...it was an interesting story. I never heard of such kind. I was so excited to watch it & I enjoy watching it.

The animation is beautiful, but there's not a lot of development when it comes to anybody besides the mani characters. Thats one of the main weaknesses of this show. Also the two main characters get on my DAMN nerves. What is this Sailor Moon? Everybody in love with the main character?

Great anime.Great Character Ideas.Good Plot,and great scene.It really makes yopu wanna become an Anime Character is a move like this.Where love is everywhere and there is always somewhere to find it.

FY is the best ! Yui is the stupidest character in the series. If not for her, her seishi could have been saved but because of her own foolishness she destroyed them all. Yui had never loved her seishi, nor cared about them and for that she's the most evil character in all of FY .
