Fushigi Yuugi, while not being as well known as Evangelion, still knocks Eva into a cocked hat in terms of likeability. FY starts out funny and gets serious relatively fast--it's very serious almost before you know it. Great for mecha-heads or advancing anime fans to adapt to shoujo-style animem with. If you don't laugh at all during the first 12 episodes, you are either dead from the neck up or a censor.

Fushigi Yuugi is absolutely beautiful. Mainly serious with some
comedy, the story and characters are excellent. I've fallen in
love with this series.

I love Fushigi Yuugi! I have all of them including there new feature length movie called "Star Of Wonder" it is so very well drawn! It is truelly and anime that will stand out on the top for a VERY long time.

I thought this was great. There are a lot of funny shows out there, but this was the best! Even when it got really serious, there was almost always a comedy break that had you holding your sides.

How come SHE gets to be stuck in China with 7 fine @ss guys?!?!??! Damn, at clubs, I'm surrounded by 1000 guys and not even 7 of them are cute! (or can fight with Martial arts abilities, or can swear as much as Tasuki, OR can heal like the Mitsukate dude, or is as rich as Hotohori, or is as cute as Chrichi, or small as Chiriko, or is as gay as Nuriko, or as fine as Tamahome!! ugh!!!)

Fushigi yuugi is the best series I never seen. It has only 52 episodes, but it´s so good.
The characters are so real, and you stock with them.
You learn to love them or hate them.
It have everything: Romances, Sadness (seishis history) and funny moments.
I´d like to qive them a ten, because they deserv it.
The animation is excellent.

Fushigi Yuugi was THE best anime show I've ever seen!!! Animation was awesome, especially in comparision to some shows, such as Slayers!!! The drama and comedy was ingeniously put together and well, it made me laugh AND cry!!!

Of all the animes I have ever seen, this was the most addictive. Excellent artwork and lovable characters paraded this series with a soap opera-like story. The comic and dramatic timing is flawless.

This is one of my very favorite tv series (right up there with Maison Ikkoku). It is a superbly thought out and arranged story with incredible directing driving it. Almost all the characters invokes a response (ya' love 'em or hate 'em) from the viewer and tugs at every emotion in the spectrum. The director holds nothing back in terms of comedy, drama, and tragedy pacing everything perfectly.

Finally! A shoujo series that demands the attention this genre deserves!

I loved this show with all my heart.. Too bad there weren't
girls totally exact like the guys in the show... it would of made it a bit
fair. But the show is great. they shouldn't change a thing about it except make it longer.

fushigi yuugi has excellent animation, likable characters (even the villians), romance, comedy, and lots of blood too. the storyline was compelling. i watched all 52 episodes in a row, 2 days straight (with interruptions for school and work), in other words, it was really neat-o.

Though I have not seen the TV series of Fushigi Yuugi, I know that in my heart, it will be as superb as the manga series (Vol. 1-18). An excellent piece of anime all in one: Romance, Martial Arts, Drama, Comedy, ... The characters are great, especially the HOT hunks. ^^ You get what I mean, ne? According to Yuu Watase in the manga, they actually have the real people dressing up as these characters. Pss...Hotohori is simply gorgeous (that's what I heard)
One of the best Japanimation I have seen around... Shouldn't one support Fushigi Yuugi?
