And it can't be undone. And even if it could.. the deadline was 5:00. It's 5:10 now. Both my advisor and my calculus professor think that I should drop it... [and apparently they rarely agree on anything] When I started Physics 1, I was the only student in my class that hadn't taken Calc 1 yet. I was taking it at the same time, so basicly I'm mathematically a semester behind everyone else in my class [2 others--now I know what they mean by "weeding out" o_O]. But my professor said that this problem, coupled with the Word Problem Syndrome (my name for it), probably makes it really difficult for me. Apparently, according to all 4 of my physics professors that I've had so far, I have an uncanny knack (sp?) with concepts. I can pick up on things that other students have trouble with or just can't. But I'm having trouble applying the math I do know to my physics problems.. [I hadn't thought of them as "word problems" but I guess that's what they are. When I think back to highschool and middle school, I remember that I had had many problems with those.] If I don't change interests before then, I'm going to take the 2nd Physics lab [which I didn't take last semester b/c I didn't know what I was doing as far as continuing physics was concerned] and then take the course I'm in now [correction: was in] again in the fall of 2003. *sigh* I hope I did the right thing.... I've been stewing over it for a week... I think...I think... Well, I knew that this was a possibility.. but it didn't keep me from breaking down into tears on the way to the Registrar's Office. Luckily, I'm at a small school and most everybody was in the dorms' area by a quarter to 5, so.... Yeah.. that's it. I'm down to 14 credits.. I feel like I gave up on it. My advisor and calc teacher said it was completely up to me when they were telling me what they thought.. (we sat there for a long time, it seemed.. I had never talked so much with my advisor at one time before today.) *shrug* It's over.. I guess. So now, I don't think your question about Post-Grad studies applies anymore.. ^_^;; Oh well... I *think* that Programming is more likely to get you a job (Although the vagueries of the job market are so elusive that calculations based on them often worthless) but if Cosmology is your dream you should probably stick with it. For what it's worth I seem to recall that in Engineering and the hard sciences the hardest part is always thrown at the students in the 1st 2 years in order to weed out the faint of heart. If this is correct then you're but one semester away from the last part of the hump and will have it relatively easy for the latter part of your academic career after that.
