Hitachi 43FDX01B
Superb video quality, and resolution, combined with HDTV readiness, makes this an excellent unit. the brightness, and look of the system is great. Hitachi built a unit by which others should set standards to.

Hitachi 43FDX01B
This TV had the most crisp picture in the showroom, and at home as great lateral clarity off center viewing, even in bright light. Video Essentials revealed only minor tweaks needed. The one feature this set should have is more than single point convergence - competitors have multi point. It can be done, but only by opening the set and knowing Hitachi service codes. Set only sticks out 20" from the wall - others were considerably fatter.

I like the set, remote layout excellent, picture excellent, Hitachi reliability has proven to be excellent. this will satisfy my needs well.

Hitachi 43FDX01B
I have only had this set for a day so these are first impressions, but to me first impressions are the most important ones. I am a collector of TV sets. I own 10.
I have owned a Hitachi 50" which I bought in 1995 and it proved to be a reliable set with excellent picture quality. This 43" set is a Dec 2000 model
and has a fantastic picture.
The size is convinient for the apartment I am living in and fits nicely in the corner of the living room where I have set it on a stand built for a 32" Sharp. It barely fits the stand but the upside is that it sits higher up at eye level with enough room for the cable box, receiver, and dvd. The store supplied stand stand is too low and does not have enough room inside to accomadate the electronics and is pricey.
This thing is loaded with options and for the price (@2000)it is a set which will not be obsolete for many years sine it is HD ready(will need a device).
I am very pleased with this set!

I went and looked all the sets in the 36 to 50.
This one had the best image. Stunning.

FYI: Wide Screen great but not for TV (not yet).
All the manufactuers including Hitachi make Wide but you loose too much
image when viewing reg TV.

I looked at the 40 from Toshiba and it looked like a 25...

I have one of these sets, and the colors intermittently change to the color red. I have had no luck with Hitachi on resolving this problem. Hitachi does no want to even speak with about it because it is 2 months out warranty Please look at another manufacture.ie. Sony,Mitsubishi,Toshiba.

Hitachi 43FDX01B
Get good picture with regular cable signal.
VERY nice picture on HDTV signal (I use a Zenith OTA STB). Also very nice picture with progressive scan DVD player.

For the price, it's a good value. The size won't overwhelm a medium sized room, like a larger TV might.

I've had it for a couple years now, and still like it. Never had any problem with it.

Hitachi 43FDX01B
This T.V. has been nothing but problems since a month after I bought it. Turns on by it self had to have screen replaced because when it was on, a faint bulls eye appeared and was very distracting. The colors started to go off on it and now there is no picture or sound at all. That is an awful lot of money to pay for a T.V. that did not even make it through two years. What a piece of junk. Buy a Sony

Hitachi 43FDX01B
Very good picture.... Little else is good... I have had problems since i bought this TV. I tried to return it, and the Vendor as well as Hitachi both said no. had to fight with Hitachi just to get them to repair it when it was under warranty. Buy a Toshiba, buy a Sony, buy anything except a Hitachi.

Picture? I ve seen better. I have an hd reviever from direct tv. It pushes a pretty clear pricture to the TV but as we all know, HD on a 4:3 ratio sucks....and all the trimming they do to make it not look distorted, you may as well have a 23 inch tv. ive had this tv for 4 years and just got my first problem....there is a black line on the screen that is approx 1/2 inch think and runs from about 1 inch below the upper left corner to the upper middle area of the tv and then fades into the tv frame. you cant see it if you are watching a DVD with the black bars on the top and bottom. ive tried all my inputs...cabel, sat, dvd and all show the line...so it is the tv. anyway, ill stop ramblin now
