The critics have been going crazy over this display and for good reason. The decoder is the best on the market and doesn't need any of the bandaids that other manufacturers use to try to make their sets look good. The blacks are deep and rich without any video noise. It might only be NTSC in a digital age but by the time they have worked the bugs out of HDTV I will have watched hundreds of hours of the best NTSC that money can buy in a rear projection display. By all means calibrate this set with Joe Kane's Video Essentials but you'll probably find like I did that the factory settings are almost right on. Way to go Marantz!
