NAD T550
The video quality is great but the sound is even better and mine doubles up as a cd player as well. No problems. Functions are easily accesable from the remote and I like the bookmark function that shows you small pics as well.

NAD T550
This is a seriously cool DVD player. It beats the nakamichi DVD 10 hands down in a (subjective) test done by myself and a friend. It is really great.

Behind that plain and uncluttered facia lies the heart of a very capable and feature full DVD player. The video quality is excellent, and it's ability to play music is inspiring. DVD audio is outstanding, offering smooth and informative reproduction. The T550 is a quiet operator, and even the tray operates smoothly. The remote is typical NAD, but does offer plenty of functions, with well spaced keys. The player also has a auto shutdown function, that puts the player in standby mode when its not in use for a couple of minutes.

Coupled with the T770, this player makes for a serious AV contender.

Audio quality is better than any CD player I've ever seen, including Audiophile equipment. Video is better than all Sony equipment that I tested. No problems. It could use another S-video connect for VCR hook-up. A fine player.

this is the shittiest dvd player for the price. My friend got a panasonic a115 for under 300.00 and it is just as good. better in fact cause of the price. why spend so much?

Excellent kit but region changing is a pain in the neck, especially if you travel a lot and thus have several different region discs

I recently purchased one and am amazed at the sound quality. I am hearing rear surround sounds which were encoded on the disc but could never hear it on my previous dvd player. What a difference? Well done NAD.

Good picture and general sound but some dvd's can be a bit jettery...
Also the sound sometimes jusps when then the film passes a scene marker.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The picture quality of this player is fine. However the sound goes out of sync on virtually EVERY disc I've ever played. The unit has benn back and forth to NAD for over a year but they can't fix it. They've finally admitted that the unit is not really up to the job of playing any DVD manufactured since 2001 because it's too old. I've only had it thirteen months! The shop where I bought it have finally got so sick of it they're changing it for a Pioneer free of charge. I can't wait to see the back of it. Having previously been a very big NAD fan, I won't be buying another NAD product ever again.

Perfect sound and picture.
Diappointing that it will not play cd-r although i am informed that you can use vivastar 80min cd-r although i have not tried this yet.
The nad is a little fussy with hired dvd, if they are not in mint condition it will not read them.
The nad is very slow to use, you almost have to wind the damn thing up.
I paid £299 of your finest English pounds, it is multi-regional, but still feel that it was a little over-priced
