I just seen it in the store I am going to get it from, they are going to mod it first(region free), but picture was great, I didnt notice any lip-sync problem.
But again I only tested it on one DVD film.
I am getting it next week, but with the specs it had and all its exactely what
I need, I want it to read cdr and that it can, has DTS out, good for future.

Excellent player! Has the some features missing in the 515 (e.g. RGB out through SCART) and it's cheaper! Picture quality is superb (used a DXR2-card in my computer before).

Sorry, my earlier comment had a typo...I had NO problems playing the Matrix DVD on the Pioneer 525, unlike some reports of problems with other players. Also, it WILL play CD-R, but WILL NOT play CD-R/W. But then again, I'm not aware of a DVD player that will play CD-R/Ws. Different yet another laser required to do that.

Hands down the best value DVD player on the market. Excellent quality audio and video that won't break the bank. Component, S-video, optical out what more can you ask for for under $300. I picked mine up from soundpros.com for $260. The setup menues are really easy to navigate and the remote is very straight forward. I've watched the Matrix twice in the past two weeks and no problems at all. I love this unit.

My entrance into the world of DVD. And what a smooth entrance. No problems at all and solid performance. RGB, Composite and ordinary video output. All that you need to get the best pivture. The only "problem" i have noticed is that you can hear the DVD spin when playing. But this "problem" isn't noticable when watching movies. The Marantz player which i looked at had the same spinning noice but was about 250$ more expensive. So maybe it's a general problem on DVD players.

This is a great player that has superb picture and sound quality. You can buy this unit for about $299 plus a $50 rebate. No problem with lip sync or any other abnormalities. I would recommend this player to anyone.

Where can you get the $50 rebate from Pioneer? I have seen this published by people in multiple formums, but no one specifies where it can be found. I check the Pioneer web site, but they did not have any information on the offer. I was wondering because I just purchased a 525 online, and am egarly waiting for it to come. A $50 rebate would be the icing on the cake.

The quality of the pciture is very, very good (I use the RGB-output on a Panasonic TX-W32D3). No problems playing 'difficult' discs like Matrix. Absolutely best value for money. The mechanism of player is a littlebit noisy though, you can hear the player in quit scenes, and the remote is an absolute horror.

well, the picture quality and the audio quality are great.
However, it seems that this unit has problem with reading some dvds. i don't know if it's because lip-sync or any other laser problems.
For example, in the " thin red line" you have the menu option to listen to few melanysean songs. the player was not able to read it in the first place.
or, yesterday it stopped displaying the english subtitles in the middle of "south park- bigger, longer and uncut". also, it stopped playing the audio at the end credits. when i checked it this morning it played the whole movie with no problems.
it could be that my unit is defect, although it's only 2 weeks old.

Excellent Video no obvious flaws in the picture quality. Excellent as a CD player with one exception: at the start of some tracks with loud musical entrances, there is a very slight delay and you miss the very start of the track . Great value with one small flaw. An audiphiles delight as a CD player.

If you find a DVD player which plays everything you want you are very lucky.
This is one of the most versatile player on the market ...and when I discovered
that it reads also SVCD I bought it immediately !!!!
