Murnaghan Odyssey 8" f4.5
Not a bad portable scope, although its size and altazimuth mount means that unless you build a "booster" stand for it, you will have to sit on the ground
to use it. The focuser is the standard helical, and has a little more play
than I wanted, plus the range wasn't quite enough for some eyepieces and
Barlows. Optically, it performed OK (just a hint of spherical aberration in
the star test), but the huge secondary support "beam" introduced a rather
bright diffraction spike (could have been a lot thinner and still supported
the diagonal well). Collimation was always critical, and views at high power
suffered a little because of this.
