The first volume was possibly the worst dub I've ever seen -- it had me
laughing many times at parts that weren't intended to be funny, and the
story wasn't strong enough to overcome the dead weight of the dubbing.
The second volume, however, was quite a bit better. Not that the
dubbing was, mind you (still more stupid accents for demons), but the
story and direction were strong enough to overcome it.

I truely liked this movie. The animation wasn't the best, and there was some pretty stupid dubbing, but something about this movie struck a chord with me. The fighting was well orchestrated, the demons were freighening (exept for the turtle guy at the beginning of the second volume, he was just dumb) The flow of the action felt right, and the whole thing was nicly directed.

character victory and so, read it is a surprise.

The story is far from good. Animation isn't that bad but the rest is. Part 2 - The demon bird- really suchs. One for the empty headed who think Satan is cool.

what´s all these rubbish comments about
"bad animation"?! the animation is both fluid
and very "full"! it may not be "Akira" but I
was positively surprised by the visual quality
of this video.the story is good enough,
the charachters were engaging (Shirenu was excellent!)
but the action was just spectacular!
....I didn´t think the dub was so bad either(apart
from some demon accents)Ryo & Akira´s voices were fine.

Demonic possetion cannot come any better than this. The storyline is a bit scaby but the action in this movie is bloody and quite nice.

The reason the make movies and anime is to be unrealistic. If you what everthing to be realistic then you are just an asshole. Devilman and a different story line and thats why it was great and if you what it to be realistic then get you head out of your moms ass. The fights was just so great and it didn't let me down one bit.

DevilMan is one of the BEST Anime of ALL TIME>>>
The brilliance of Go Nagai shines through once again,folks,
in his most horrifying,bloody,depressing anime ever.
Brilliant plot (mind you,some things that were in the manga
are GONE and make things not as intresting as they should be)
The first oav is kinda old,so the animation isn't the greatest.
But the CHARA DESIGNS!I was harsh drooling,all through the
demon-ass busting scenes, and the quiet,intense moments of
revalation between Ryo and Akira.
It may be some-what slow paced,but it's more than worth it
at the end when things really pick up and leave you hanging.
As for the second oav,it's one of those rare cases when the
sucessor surpases the original.
AKI-CHAN IS SOOO HANDSOME!Ryou too...(although I don't tend to
go for the dangerous pretty boy type)
The animation is top of the line for 2-d circa 1993, and the
fighting scenes are breath-taking,bloody and awesome in thier
tension and beauty.
You may be hard pressed to find the sub,but WATCH IT!MANGA

I think this anime is absalotly brilliant I have seen all of it so i would know i would advise anyone to buy this it is kickass solid animation story exelent and charachers brill it was very uplifting and not very sad

Oh, my god! What are they doing to anime?! I mean, hell... Even Barney, Sailor
Moon, Spice Girls or even the goddamn Sword For Truth is better than this piece
of shit! It doesn´t have any plot, characters or decent soundtrack! For this and
much more, this horrible freak only deserved a "1" (and repair that i´m being

Devilman is one WICKED anime. The story is compelling. I wish Go Nagai came with more volumes with the two volumes here right now. I saw the subtitled version, and I thought about trying out the dubbed versions, until I heard how bad the voice acting was, so I thought F**K THAT!! I can't wait till Devilman Woman( Which they should call DEVILWOMAN)makes it here in the states. It makes me think devilman woman is a hermaphrodite.
