Well, I thought that this was OK, but mainly because I like all of the characters already. If I had never seen Tenchi Muyo, and saw this, I'd think it sucks, but since I like Tenchi Muyo so much, I like this even though its not that great... I mainly just for fun, so don't expect a serious movie/episode.

Tenchi Muyo: Mihoshi Special
One word. Hilarious. While like Shin Tenchi, the Mihoshi Special puts a much greater emphasis on humor than in the OAV and Tenchi Universe, the difference is that in this case the humor is actually funny.

This episode takes place at some point during (or immediately after) the 2nd Tenchi OAV series. But since it has nothing to do with the main story of the series, it doesn't really matter when. The gist of it is that, after a dream sequence of Mihoshi's that includes such things as Ryoko as Snow White and Ayeka as the evil witch (no comment), Mihoshi tries to counter allegations of her incompetence as a police officer by telling the story of a major case she and her partner Kiyone (this is the only time Kiyone appears in the OAV, by the way) once cracked. But instead of simply telling the story as it actually happened, Mihoshi lets her overactive imagination get the best of her and inserts the rest of the Tenchi cast into various roles in the story. She casts Washu as a mad scientist, Ryoko as a space pirate, Tenchi as private investigator who the space pirate kidnapped, Ayeka as the PI's fiancé, and Sasami as the Magical Girl Pretty Sammy (no, really). Needless to say, if Kiyone were the one telling the story, there would be major differences (actaully, I believe there's been at least one fanfic based on that premise, but I digress). Anyway, in the end, the case is solved, the PI is rescued, the mad scientist and the space pirate are apprehended, and Mihoshi on more than one ocassion insults Ayeka, apparently without realizing it. ;) But Kiyone is apparently killed in the process when the scientist's spaceship is destroyed. And most likely, everybody believes that Mihoshi made up the whole thing. However, the final scene of the Special indicates that there is some degree of truth to the story: we see Kiyone, stranded on the scientist's now-derelict spaceship, professing her undying hatred of Mihoshi. :D
