Sony DVP-S300
I havent had this unit that long, but so far no problems what so ever. It has excellent features and once again Sony pulls through with an outstanding and affordtable player.

Sony DVP-S300
I found the S300 to be an excellent player I was trully impressed with its performance with DVDs. For the money I do not see a better player on the market. I doubt that with the human ear and eye anyone can tell the difference between it and a $1000 player.
P.S. I was very impressed with its performance on playing music CDs.

I don't think so. 8.5 lbs. Where did the other 5lbs. that the 3000 has on this machine go?

Nice machine. Could use DTS. Fairly priced. Excellent video. Might still prefer the Panasonic A110.

I've been waiting for this unit since the CES announcement. Was looking at the 3000 before the annoucement but waited too long. Still not sure if it was worth the wait or if I missed the boat. Sound and Video rival anything I've seen. Remote could use jog feature and/or backlight.

Sony DVP-S300
I've been using the machine for about 2 weeks and I really like it. The only negative point is that the player gets relatively hot after a while. Video and audio-performance are great.

Sony is the best! The sound was louder than laserdisc and the video was a little bit better. Seeing starship troopers on it was a piece of perfection.

Sony DVP-S300
I've had it for 3 weeks, and I'm very happy with it. I got the Sony because
the sound quality on CD's from the analog outs was much better than any DVD
player close to the price. It will also play CDR's, which I plan to start
burning soon.

Picture quality is excellent in P&S, a little soft in letterbox on my 4:3
TV. Can't complain about anything, especially considering the price.

Sony DVP-S300
I can't give this Player a 10, because I would really like a backlit remote, and a jog/shuttle button. Otherwise this player is the best value in my opinion. I previewed a comparable Toshiba, and Panasonic unit, as well as the $1000 DVPS-700, and I found the Sony DVPS-300 to be better in picture as well as sound quality on my 35" XBR than the Toshiba and Panasonic. The difference between the DVPS-700 and the 300 seemed to be mostly cosmetic in my opinion. For the money, this is an excellent player.

This is my first DVD PLAYER and am just amazed at the video quality and the sound. I also liked the menu's, very easy to use. No problems yet, but Sony
could have made a better instruction manual.

Sony DVP-S300
Purchased this DVD player on 11/14/98 for $319 + tax from a super Topeka, KS, audio source: Montgomery Wards had it for $349 (-$20 coupon = $329), which SEARS matched and then I applied a $30 coupon cut from local paper. Could have got the Panasonic A110 for $339 via the same route. Prices at these 2 sources using this method generally beats Circuit City & Best Buy.

My Yamaha 1103 doen't have DTS or 6 RCA input for a decoder, so I gave up on waiting for DTS capable SONY players.

Have only watched 2 movies so far. I'll vote later.
