It had one of the best storyline. It's is as god as Ghost in the Shell. Just wonderful with a great drama!

What's up with you and that other guy man! What's your problem? So this movie was kinda slow and didn't have a whole lot of action. That doesn't make it shitty or crappy. I guess if you don't like this movie you probably wouldn't like Ghost in the Shell either since that's another classic movie that requires an intellegent viewer but I bet you like Ninja Scroll and Wicked City huh? A good anime is not about blood or sex. It's about the characters and storyline. That's what makes a good anime and The Wings of Honneamise has all of that.

I am listing this as a comment only, because, honestly, Wings is not my type of anima. Yes, I am an action-cartoon junky (sob). But, I don't want to ruin the rating for what is, visually, and mentally, an avante grade film. I did not like it. It was slow, and to me, boring. However, I hate Gone With the Wind too, so bite me. High art is not my thing. But, even I can recognize wonderful art, rich charecter development, and exquisite story lines. If you enjoy beautifully rendered worlds, charecters you can associate with, and a plot that makes you think AND feel, watch this. If, like me, you prefer the violence of AD Police, Ghost in the Shell, or Akira, let it pass. But keep an open mind either way.

PS. Two last things; some one said it was suprising this had a higher score than Ninja Scroll. Not really; most anima fans are like me; action junkies. We love visually stunning images of sex and violence, which is why Hollywood is still in business. It isn't fair to compare Wings and Scroll. Two entirely different animals.
Second- I would not suggest this as a first anima to some one. They may get turned off by the length and lack of action. This is a very specialized anima, unlike 99% of the other titles out there. However, if you ever hear of some one complaining anima is all sex, violence, and no story lines, hit them with this, and watch their jaws drop.

SUCK MY POPCICLE, thiiiiiiiis waaaaaaaas booooooorrrrrriiiiiiiiiing! First of all it has no redeming historical value whatsowever (the alternate planet thing didn't work at all). This anime had the second worst character designs I have ever seen (the first being BIG WARS). Even now I cant determane why I was supposed to care about anyone on the screen. That ugly skank needed to shape up, and get a fistful of reality! Every scene was akward, slow moving, and probaly was only made for the picturesque value, though I admit the landscapes and action sequences held their own. In short, I think it was alot of good paint put into alot of bad plot. I did not like wings of Honneamise, WHAT THE FRICK IS HONNEAMISE?

To come right down to it, I think this film lacks revalation. In the end, Shiros' mind has definatley been changed, but what good did it do him? All he decided was that EVERYTHINGSUCKS! He dosn't do anything but give a rediculous silliloquy of the evil of beingkind(since these arn't men you can't say mankind). He never did anything for anybody but get shot into space while the whole world around him is crubling. My other problem with this movie is most of the time you can't tell if it is about Shiro, or the world he lives in. Well Shiro is unlikable, and the world he lives in is ike something off a Metallica album(Probably "...and justice for all") Meanwhile people try to kill him for god knows why, his "girl" is a depressive bumpkin, who wouldn't know determination or self improvement if it bit her in the ass. So the ultamate theme of the film is EVERYTHINGSUCKS, yet the final sequence is a montage of images of human achivement...So what I'm left with is Sure EVERYTHINGSUCKS, but it always has, and look at all the cool stuff we made depite it all. THE MOVE TRIES A TOTAL 180 in the last FIVE MINUTES. I'm sorry, but what I was left with was a story I did not like, that got to the end and said "nevermind"

I felt I owed you a little more intellectual cause to dislike this movie

It is one of the best animes I ever seen and I sure seen a lot of animes. Theis movie has a great storyline. The only anime I can think of that is better than this anime would be Ghost in the Shell!
