It had a good storyline, the only thing I didnt like was that stupid girl that always was following him. She should have just stayed behind like he told her. The demon abilities that was given him were awsome. As for the ending, completely unpredictable. The storyline was definitely not predictable at all.

...don´t really want to offend the above person,
but I mean.... really, hero confronts dark overlord charachter
who´s trying to detroy the world(my god, what an unbelievable premise!)
, hero beats dark overlord(oh my god! what a stunning twist!)
.......and oh! I almost forgot the most dazzling plot-twist ever
conceived, the hero is actually beaten in his first encounter,
BUT, he finds his FATHER´S MAGIC SWORD and is given super-cosmic powers
of justice and light(this is too deep, man...)to conquer evil and
save the world!.......I´m not saying it´s bad, but it´s oozing mediocrity....

Not great, but not bad, either. The ending did seem awfully rushed and anti-climactic.

On the other hand, the dubbed version I picked up for $5.99 (gotta love video store clearances) had fairly decent voice acting. I really liked the dub voice of the kid who acted as their guide. It's just somehow terribly funny whenever he says a line like, "Those things move pretty fucking fast" with that ridiculous accent they gave him. He sounds like a cross between Ren and Cheech Marin.

It was really good right from the start.We could not stop watching because we had to know what happened next. the characters were cool and the movie was great ! And thats why we are voting for this extemly spiffy movie.

Beautiful animation in this story of the battle between good and evil. Very little sex. In fact in one part the hero and heroine, Kyoya and Sayaka, are let into a hotel room with only one bed. I first thought they were going to have
sex (as most movies today would), but Kyoya, afraid he would not control himself instead sleeps on the floor. Levih Rah, the demonic villain, later rebukes the moral nature of our heroes, but he is defeated. In this story, good virtues, such as morality and compassion, win out over evil.

Don't pick up this title because the director is Kawajiri.
This is never equal to "Ninja Scroll" or "Wicked City".
Actually, I can't even say that there is any story plot in this anime.

I have to give this an 8, if only because Mephisto kind of reminds me of a character I created for a fantasy book series I'm planning I'm writing. This particular character is a demon and even has the same basic coloring (hair and clothes). Their personalities are very different, though.

For one thing, my character isn't much of a mystery; he's generally out for only one thing--human women. He's one of my favorite characters.

You know, this could have been great. This is a good example of a great anime idea gone bad. Demon City Shinjuku could have been a scary, chilling, action filled, entertaining anime sci-fi flick. Instead, it's like one giant B-movie. I feel they should have done a better Job, although it was o.k. It had a very predictable plot.

Of all the anime I have ever seen this one I think is closest to being a standard Hollywood movie. Everything is pretty predictable, but never the less good animation, fair character designs, this thing has a few things going for it. Give it a chance.

Great characters. Mephisto reminded me of Trent Reznor, personality and looks. Even his house looked like the setting for the Perfect Drug video. I thought he kicked ass!
