I'm in love with this movie. everything I needed to learn in life i learned from this film. i was so excited after i saw this movie i went to my friend's house and punch him in the head. his head didn't explode though. after that i stuck a grenade in his mouth. Heh! that did the trick. next thing i'll do is stick my fingers in my chest.

This anima answers a question that has been plaguing man for centuries:
Just how many ways are there for someone's head to explode?

I agree with those of you who say that there is way to much gore. Every two minutes, some is either cut to ribbons (literaly) or goes off like a human roman candle. NOT a movie to watch while eating italian. The plot had potential, but who needs a plot when you can wipe out a whole village of people and shower the landside with blood and gore? Watch only if you have NOTHING better to do.

Ahhh... the creator of anti-gravity blood. Not as cool as ninja scroll, but nonetheless a classic. whether u luv it or hate it, it's a must see.

BTW u want something worse than lily cat? Sailor moon.
just makes me shiver.... uuuuggh!

How anyone could give this a 10 and then live with themselves is beyond me. It's godawful...I mean, I'm all for pointless, bloody fights. I'm a huge DBZ and Ninja Scroll fan - but come on! This is just...gah, I don't even know how to describe it.

But it's not as bad as Planet Busters. Nothing's that bad.

I gave it a 4 for two things: Some people like excessive pointless unrationnal and unrealistic violence, and the ending was strange (the only thing I found even remotely interesting in this Anime). For the rest, it sucked. Plain and simple. The animation was nothing incredible, the plot was the worse I've ever seen (for an estimation of the plot's depth, watch 3 hours of Teletubbies),the characters were totally ridiculous and there was so much death and violence and blood that I couldn't laugh about it. Perhaps, if they had worked an additionnal 4 or 5 years on the basic idea, it would have been barely acceptable. Finally, a world with nothing (ABSOLUTELY nothing) to eat and millions of people that aren't skinny and sick-looking.

First of all, even though I gave the movie a 3 - I think the series was really great - worthy of a 9 or 10. I watched the original series while living in Japan, and though rather gory and violent, it contained a really good plot - at least for an action movie.

Unfortunately, the movie was practically a hacked up summary of all the events that happened. It really pisses me off that one of my favorite animes on television while growing up made such a bad name in the states because of this cheesy movie. I enjoyed it a little bit because of the childhood memories it brought back, but thinking of all the people besides me that never saw a single minute of FOTNS before this movie, I have to give it no more than a rating of 3 and a big thumbs down.

However, there is a new rendition of the Fist of the North Star series from Managa Entertainment.. So far I've only seen the first 6 episodes (2 videos) but it has been really great so far and the story is simple, clear, and very fun. That one deserves a 10!

a great story, too.The fight of good and evil.But I didnt the motion picture the
storyline wasnt related to the cartoon.

This is movie is based on one the of best action manga ever made: The fist of the north star. This manga was made back in 1983 by Tetsuo Hara, so I think it is the father of the ¨characters-getting-stronger-each-time-they-fight-to-the-point-that-they-become-so-powerful-that-they-laugh-at-any-stupid-that-challenges-them-¨ kind of anime, like Saint Seiya (1986), and Dragon Ball Z (1989). Most of the people get to see just the 2 hour movie and they think they have seen everything about FOTNS(Fist of the north star). But the movie will be enjoyed only by those who knows the story from the Manga, or at least got caught but the brief story showed. All the ridiculous exagerations in FOTNS are intended to make you feel the incredible power that its characters have. The obvious inspirations of Tetsuo Hara when he made FOTNS, were Mad Max movies, Bruce Lee movies, and a little from the old Western movies of Hollywood, like the good, the, bad, and the Ugly. I personally think that this is a classic of the action dramatic anime, and anime in general (and I´ve seen a lot like Akira, Ghost in the shell, Ninja Scroll and other classics, so don´t think that I´m a newcomer to the anime scene).

Good god people, trashing a great movie like this!! After hearing awful reviews about this anime and hearing about how it seem to be aimed at the testertone overloaded teenager i decied not to rent this at the video store. However, i later gave in and watched it anyways.The heads exploding and people being sliced into 4 pieces were the icing on the cake. And like that other guy, i did laugh when ray ripped off that punk's arm and said "Hey,these belong to you" But that didnt get in the way of story, Sure, theplot may not be as deep as other anime, but it was stillgood.LEts see...a downside of this movie. Oh yeah, why does it seem like men are good at killing, and woman, or actually little girls seem too be good at controlling minds? The ending was chessy, but that didnt get in the way too much
