Great player. Flexible with builtin DD 5.1 decoder, and also DTS output (not built-in decoder). It has great audio and picture output, and no problems so far with any DVD's I have played. In its price range, its a top player.

The remote is good, although I would have liked the "last played" button above the cover. And the fast forward/reverse isn't as good as Toshibas flexible multispeed variant. (I had a Toshiba 2107 before this one).

The only complaint I ahve about this player is that I can't do smooth slow motion scanning in forward or reverse. Not really a biggie but it does make it impossible to check out those little "did I really see what I thought I saw" things.

The player has excellent picture and sound. I have a panasonic A105 and the pioneer DV-505 before. I ended up with this DV-606D. I like the last memo function which start the dvd at where you stopped last time. After I have this unit, I almost stop using my cd-changer. I play all my cd using this dvd player. Through the digital output, the sound is very good. Futhermore, it has a lot of output and it is dvd DTS compatible. However, I don't like the remote. It is even worse than the remote come with DV-505. So far, I don't see any dvd player remote in this price range is good. It is also do-it-yourself region free and macrovision free modifiable. If you don't need dolby decoder and all the extra output, the DV-414 may be a good alternative.

I hate the fact that the DVD has to be stopped to access the equipment menu (which is seriously hurting). Also, unlike every piece of A/V equipment I have ever owned, this Pioneer will not send outputs to all jacks simultaneously. Why only one type output at a time - audio and video? Try sending Svideo/anlog sound to a tv/vcr while sending Component video/dig sound to projector/A-V amp. Soundsa simple? FORGET IT. Pioneer will not let you. Remote has half its functions behind a slide down door. Why? This player does not have any auto options such as a format selection hiearchy. DD Decoding is laughable. No control and awkward. Look elswhere!!

I really like this player. It can do pretty much everything and has nearly everything a player could have, from dolby decoding to DTS. Yet it is only about $100 more than the basic players without the decoder. Many outputs at your disposal, decoding, and codefree capabilities set it apart from others like the Pioneer 414. Like using it as a CD player as well. Sound and picture is great, performance is flawless, and capabilities endless. Controller really isn't that bad, either, it's just not all that good. All in all, I really like the player and would recommend it. BTW, as of now, the best places to buy from are One Call($420 after 2 day shipping) or Costco(about $400 to $410 depending on tax). Recommended!

The only reason that I do not give this one full score, is that it lacks a bit of design in the built-in menus and the on screen display. Also, the fast forward does not playback sound and is a bit more jitterish than on other players. Still, an overall excellent player with lots of features, well worth its money!

606D AND I CONNECT IT TO MY INFOCUS LP-580 VIDEO PROJECTOR. I CONNECT A CABLE
FROM VIDEO OUT IN THE DVD IN TO VIDEO IN IN THE VIDEO PROJECTOR
AND I PUT A FILM IN MY DVD AND THE COLOR OF THE FILM IS VERY DARK
I EVEN CONNECT IN TO S-VHS CONECTOR AND THE COLOR IS VERY DARK TOO
I CHECK MT VIDEO PROGECTOR WITH VCR AND COMPUTER AND THE WORK VERY GOOD

Great value for money player with onboard AC3 decoder. I rate the video quality very highly but the audio quality when playing CDs can be a little flat. No problems so far with region 0,1 and 2 discs. The layer change is not as subtle as on some machines but is only a minor niggle. Overall a very good choice for somebody wanting a good quality one box solution.

Good machine, great quality, great price, plenty outputs (incl. seperated video, dolby decoder and DTS). Drawbacks: Ugly menu's, doesn't play CDR media, FF and RW (with picture) are not continuous, but show frames every +/-10 sec.).

I have had this unit for since feb and love it. It sounds and looks great. The features for the price make this unit the best I researched. I have used pioneer equipment for 15 years now and it is yet another that I am sure to have for many years. Could not be happier...now waiting for my DTS reciever

The video and audio of this unit is supurb. I love all of the jacks in the back...so many options. The auto sensing 5.1 and light on the front make it easy to be certain you are in digital mode.

Since the DVD tecnologies was release, i knew that it was just a matter of time for me to enter on this new world. But, as i am a cautious person, i did a lot of research about the correct model i should buy. I spent a whole year reading everything i could find about it.
And finnaly i made my decision. DV-606 was the best option when i bought and i think that it still is.
It have so many features that fits all kind of receivers, and the frontal panel,show us witch channels are available on each disk. I agree that the remote is not the best i saw, but it works real fine.
It's a amazing product. Best choice.
