Windy rider is much cooler she can sing and also look cute.

Well, it's admittedly not really a worthy successor to the mighty Macross series, but if you look at it on its own and not as a followup to one of the greatest anime of all time, then you'll see that in itself, it's still quite good.

The storyline, while indeed predictable, never really fails to keep you interested, and the music rivals that of the original Macross. Although topping Minmei's "Ai Oboeteimasuka" is no easy task.

The only problems were the rather bland quality of animation and the length of the whole thing. Three hours is just a bit too long in one sitting. Surprisingly, it seems to be a pretty good dub, although I've never heard the original Japanese cast to base it on.

Basically, it's worth at least a rent, and you'll be much more pleased with it if you've either never seen the original Macross, or just go into this not thinking of it as a true Macross sequel.

Better sequel than the "Robotech" guys could have done. Excellent animation. Twist on the use of music and song from the first "Macross". I love the part at the end when both side join together to blow the tyrant away

I liked the mecha designs, and the battle scenes were exciting, but too short! Robotech and Macross fans will likely be disappointed, as this is movie incredibly boring and shallow, when you think of all they could have done with it.

I bought the 6 VCD OVA, and I would just like to say that Macross isn't about action and mechs only....It is about love, music, culture and all the other things that make life all that it is. Those of you who found it boring, don't worry, watch the movie again in a few years, and you might feel different...
Macross Plus KICKS ASS!!! YF-19 could kick the crap out of the Zentraedi and whoever else who has a problem with humans single-handedly.

This movie kicks serious ass. And whoever thinks that movie sux, well you have a few strong points. The movie was 3 hours long, the animation was only a bit over ok, and the movie was a little predicitble. but besides that it kicked ass.


P.S. Anyone know a good Macross 2 site?

If you watch the OVA rendition, you'll find that episodes 4 & 5 have the best animation quality. Now, if the entire series (and movie) had that same quality, it'd definitely be a nine. Unfortunately, the animators took too many shortcuts in the other episodes. Notice how different Hibiki looks in comparing, say, episode 2 to episode 5. That's what happens when you have different animation co's producing the animation (espescially when it's some other different to AIC!). Not much to the story. I'd only recommend getting the Japanese LDs vols 4 & 5.

A mediocre anime. Not too bad, but not horribly awe-inspiring either. This one is clearly directed by a music fanatic, and while the songs and the music do sound okay, the plot and character development level is barely that of Pokemon or Dragon Ball. Major Nex's dub voice is changed in the final episode, which is a major screwup.

I didn't watch the subtitled version yet, but doing so would not improve my rating on this movie.

I loved Macross and Robotech and Do you remember love and then came Macross 2. Macross 2 is not a bad movie but it is not good either. This starts out good but ends with some what of a bad ending and whats with destroying the Macross. If you like Macross/Robotech and dyrl then you will be dissapointed with this movie.
