It was good enough too look at but I didn`t like that SDF-1 is being destroyed and the voices was strange,they didn`t fit with the caracters ! But it was a good story !

I can tell by reading the comments on this page that this title generates a fair amount of controversy. Personally I found the plot predictable and cliched at best and utterly absurd at worst, lacking in complexity or detail at all points. The animation was subpar in that there was little detail and the fight scenes were poorly orchestrated. The characters were extremely shallow compared to their predecessors in the original series or Macross Plus and I found it pretty hard to care about any of them. Overall it was a huge dissapointment, doubly so because it had the word 'Macross' in the title. I would suggest renting something else, or even seeing one of the other Macross titles for a second time rather than view this catastrophe.

Macross II is a great movie, although it does pale in comparison to the other Macross series, Macross Plus by far being the best! Some great music and animation in parts, especially the space battles involving the Metal Siren. And I'd just like to add, Macross is NOT ROBOTECH! ROBOTECH is the North American version of the original Macross TV show combined with two other shows to fill out an episode manifest.

This could have been a good movie but the plot was terrible. Come on a news reporter. If you ask me the love triangle should have been between Major Nexx, Lieutenant Sylvie Gena, and Ishtar. Major Nexx should have been the hero of the story. After all he was the best pilot there, even better than Sylvie Gena. Like in the end, he proved he was the best and the most courageous.

It gets off to a good begining but eventualy turns into a Quazi-"A Few Good Men" mecha action film with a stupid love story on the side. JUST GO AND WATCH MACROSS PLUS, BECAUSE THIS ONE IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY TO RENT!!!

This is by far the best movie ive seen. It is my favorite. Macross was pretty good. but the plot was kinda gay. Macross II was more interesting. The mechs and the graphics were soo much better. I also love the music in it. Too bad Ishtars song isnt on the soundtrack. She is kinda cute to haha. If any of the macross series sucks, its Macross plus. What is the freaking point of that movie? anyone want to tell me? It has nothing to do with macross. Just some robot singer gone wack. The only connection to macross that it has is the fact that the two main characters are test pilots for mechs.

The storyline and plot is too similar to the first macross. Alien invaders attack and humans use music too try fighting them off. But apart from that I think this is the most exciting macross movie there was. There are some really intense action scenes and the mechs are awsome as usual. To be honest, I think Macross plus was probably the worst movie. Although i still liked it, it just really didn't have anything to do with macross.

This is a huge disappoinment waiting to happen for anyone who has already seen the original series, Macross: DYRL, and Macross Plus. The characters are shallow and the story is predictable. I'm personally glad they removed this OAV series (and movie) from the "official" Macross timeline. That's why you see the Macross in Macross Plus.

If anything was learned, Studio Nue won't allow anyone else to do a Macross OAV series.

I thought that Macross II was great to me. I love the mecha and ships of Robotech. The sheer POWER of Robotech could put a can of industrial size WUP-ASS on star wars or star trek any day. The Enterprise, ha! The Macross could destroy hundreds in an instant. X-wings, ha! The VF-1 could kick its ass, not to mention a Metal Siren! The Empire, the Federation, the New Republic, the Romulans and Klingons, ha! Nothing compared to Dolza's Main Fleet!! Hail Dolza, Hail Breetia! Hail Kyron! Hail Ingues and Feff! May the PROTOCULTURE! be with you!

My favourite anime with very good character design and mecha. But the story is a little predictable. Although the graphics at last 2 episodes was not very good, it is my favourite Macross series. It is sad to know that Macross II is not included in the official Macross timeline.

I love Ishtar!! She is so sweet!!!!

Very cool mechas and one of the best character designs. Nexx is cool, Ishtar is beautiful and sweet, and other characters are very well designed. The only thing lacking is that the main character should have been Nexx, he does most of the kicking ass!!!!! Sound track is very nicely done and Ishtar's voice (japanese version) is very, very cute!!!!!
