Great movie, too bad I only saw the last 20 minutes of it. The awe inspiring Metal Siren Valkyrie left me with my mouth gaping. Incredible machine. Animation to me was really good.

Pretty good, but not great. The animation and music was pretty
good. The movie version is a little long, I'd recommend the OAV
version instead.

I have seen a lot of the Macross series and Macross II the movie is, in fact, one of the best one yet. Personally, I like the alien character named "Ishtar" and the Valkyrie is the very best one yet that I had seen. I think I'm going to get the OAV of Macross II. It had excellent animation and kicked supreme ass in combat situation but I felt the story was way way to sappy and needed reworking but well worth the watch.

Not bad. Worth watching up to the very end, where the movie messes up some of the relationships it was seemingly setting up. Anti-climactic end sequence...maybe Macross fans don't mind, but doesn't anyone else find the idea of wars won because of background singers somewhat inane? Some of this one was entertaining but Macross Plus is supposedly much better.

The Macroos storyline is generally depressing, some good always comes out of it but at a price (Clash of the Bionoids, Macross Plus, the Robotech sereies....) but in this story an all round good ending (apart from the near total destruction of the UN Spacy), lots of action and some pretty decent music.

Personally, I found myself asleep at the end of this, so I saw it again. I felt as if this could have been a shorter, considering so little happened in it. All the characters were bland except Ishtar, but even she can't save this unexciting movie.

Given the amount of time allocated to the movie it managed to squueze in many dimensions, and had a surprising ending, which is always good. One of the best anime I've seen yet.

I liked the moavie mostly due to its similarities to the Robotech Saga. I have seen a lot of Anime movies and this one kicked ass. The ending sequence was great mainly because you got to see the SDF Macross in action one last time. The space battles were awsome and the Charecters belivable. This was a great movie and I would recommend it to anyone who likes action/scifi with some hope and heart.

Really liked the plot ideas, along with the mecha fighting scenes; the Metal Siren really trashed that one Marduk flagship. Attempts at humor not completely successful. Animation quality was pretty good for the first and second episode, but the third really lost something, very poor compared to the first. Despite that, still a very good story.

Personally the only thing that this movie had going for it was the
fact that it had the title "Macross II," and the mecha designs.
Overall the plotline sucked, dialogue was something to be desired,
and the music should have been atomized! Other than that, the mechs
were hot, I also liked how the Marduk/Zentran/Meltran characters
spoke in their own language.
VIVE LA ROBOTECH!!!!!!!!!!!!
