Came into it expecting itd be really good. Was pretty disapppointed. Overall very boring. Had to really put an effort into finishing it.

Anime is not the greatest but story is good. It is emotional and the charcters are able to convey it out to the audience. At least it did for me. I thought it was sad and depressing, but the little science scenes it had at the ending help counter the effects. I thought those scenes were pretty funny. Besides Evangelion this anime is one of my favorites.

Another stellar production from GAINAX! Now I saw this when U.S. Renditions released it what? 8 - 9 years ago and I still watch it with great enthusiasm!

This anime has everything a sci-fi epic should have. I love how Hideaki Anno took this series to the limit making it incredibly realistic and incredibly absurd at the same time. For instance, instead of giving people the chance to dissect the film and point out inconsistencies in the science and technology involved, he used scientific theories that were all disproved! Yet he managed to make them appear completely sound. He also used a simplistic robot design that gives a realistic look to the Gunbuster, but made it so ridiculously powerful it's like the old '70's Shogun Warriors robots on steroids all rolled into one.

Haruhiko Mikimoto of "Macross" fame also contributes to the overall beauty of the series with his awesome character designs.

I think this is a great series and doesn't deserve the negative comments it has recieved thus far here.

The giant robot anime to end all giant robot anime. I liked the first four episodes but the last two were what impressed me the most. One of the more interesting aspects of the series was the use of the theory of relativity in the plot. It would be interesting to see an updated and restored version of episode six which was cut down and had no color because of time and budget shortages.

One of GAINAX's best works ever made. While it's loosely inspired by Robert A. Heinlein's _Starship Troopers_ novel, it's a lot better to watch than Paul Verhoeven's bastardized film version.

This OVA series may seem to be a typical mecha action story, but lots of character development, drama, and great animation and music make Gunbuster a classic. The lead character Noriko is quite the watering can at first, but you get to see her gradually grow into a more capable person. The mood of the series begins light-hearted enough, but becomes very somber and serious towards the end. The pseudo-science is actually very well done for once and time dilation is used to great effect in episode 5. Like the ending to Evangelion, the last episode, which is shown in letterbox format in black and white, was controversial to many viewers. I thought it was great! My only gripe is with the use of still frames to depict the final battle. However, it does not detract from the overall quality of the story. I highly recommend this series. Also, the ending will bring a tear to your eye.

Love the universe next door aproach. After all "Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Eisy. Could use a little more humor and story though. Yet, the action was great and Smithes'- dimise is one of the saddest moments i have ever seen in an anime(The others maybe Final Eva. and PSME). But in a thoughtful not a pathetic way like everything else is-(movie and Dis"m"ey wise). We were set up for that one pretty good. Overall it really was great. As usually an excellent production from Gainax especially if they were hard pressed for resources.

A must see for Gainax fans.

Hollywood could learn a thing about how to score a soundtrack from this series. The background music by Kouhei Tanaka is absolutely astonishing, especially the piece that accompanies Noriko and Kazumi's return to Earth and the end credits.
