RCA RC5220P
This (so far) seems to be an excellent yet inexpensive player. It lacks an AC-3 decoder, but does have a toslink optical digital output that's both AC-3 and DTS compatible. It won't play VideoCD's, but that's okay since I don't have any. Best of all, it has played every movie I've tried in it (even some that had problems playing in my old Sharp DV-550U). The on-screen menu system is done really well and is easy to follow, and it has a neat screen saver that kicks in when the system is inactive. All-in-all, I really like this player, and considering how cheap it is (price-wise), you really can't go wrong!

I got this unit from Best Buy for $249... Man, this thing is awesome, it has everything I want in a player except for maybe DTS decoding onboard and Dolby Digital, but the optical digital out it kick-ass. This unit has worked flawlessly for me, and it is so easy to use, a chimp could use it!

So far so good. This is my third machine and its doing fine, knock on wood. The first two machine were a joke! So much trouble, it would freeze, shut- off for no reason, would not shut-off, skip chapters, would not read the disks and it would eject. Had for a month, so will see. Has a lot of features for its price. I would rate it a 8 so far. Let you know more in about 2 more months.
