It's the long winded fool again... I just wanted to give everyone the latest (and hopefully final) chapter in my story.

I received my new player, a reconditioned 909. It is definitely a fuller-featured player than the one I had, and works like a champ. Other than the occasional quarter-second skip and a one-time screwed up menu on the new Boogie Nights dual disc release, I have had no complaints whatsoever.

If you have a 907, don't be depressed. Dig your heels in and fight Samsung. They'll give in eventually.

I have had the same issues with this DVD player as the long winded guy above so I won't repeat the story. Samsung is giving me the same run around as well. Time to start calling managers directly I guess. This is the first and only time I have bought a Samsung and it will absolutly be the last.

I just finishing reading the stories above and they hit the nail on the head. The Samsung 907 dvd player is completely ridiculous and as of this date it only plays 60-70 percent of my movies. This was a present so I can't say I feel ripped off financially but the person who bought this for me (and it was expensive) feels awful. The whole part about getting the runaround from Samsung is compeltely truthful. I gave up trying to get a replacement and bought a new dvd player (not samsung) and suggest everyone else do the same.

I've read with interest all your comments. I'd like to add that some panasonic, Phillips, or Sony models do have troubles reading Matrix too. I live in france and I bought the 907 two years ago, when it was reeeeeeaaaaaallllllllly difficult to find an (easy) multiZone player.
So I think the 907 was worth it even if I think about replacing it in the next 6 months

I should have known that anything I won at a company picnic would be a piece of crap, but this is rediculous. The samsung dvd-907 was the cheapest player out there, and now I know why. The first unit I had seized up on 4 of the 5 movies I got with it.(They were free, by the way). I returned it for a replacement and recieved the same model. The week after, the remote wouldn't work anymore. I bought a do-all remote (TV, VCR, DVD, CD, etc.), and now I am finally able to watch a stuttering, locked up, or blue-screened(i.e. no disk) uh.. movie? Yeah right. I have a feeling I won't ever buy another Samsung product and will insure that all my friends don't either. Way to go Samsung!

Hi,
I just read through the comments and want to just confirm most of them. I haven't actually put myself through the hell of getting Samsung to fix this crap, but now I know what I'm in for...I'll make a few calls, then check back for the almost inevitable class action suit.

I have also read the comments and can only agree that i too am a victim of this crap player. How embarassing to invite friends over to watch a DVD and stare at a blue screen instead. My player has all the goofs that have been mentioned. We need to sue these people!!!

Sorry to rain on your Samsung DVD-907 parade, but is there room in here for me to complain about my Samsung DVD611? I have the same problems that all of you have experienced with your first generation 907. It looks as if Samsung failed to learn from prior mistakes when producing the second generation 611. Check this out...Samsung paid to repair my 611 (which was still covered under warranty) locally and the cost to Samsung was $292.20, not bad for a machine for which I only paid $169.95 for. I got it back from repairs a week ago and the problems still persist. They now say they are willing to exchange it for another model, It better exchanged with the best one they make no matter how much it is!!!
Wishful thinking on my part!!!

I think everyone is exaggerating a bit. Ok this player halts on certain new releases, but have you heard what are the problems with other DVD Players, for example Pioneer 626, NAD t550 first releases, Arcam and several others. I think that most of the players are plagued with problems and the format is not that stable enough yet as all dvd players have some sort of Problem when playing problematic Disks! I have had my 907 for 2 years now, without any hardware problems at all, except for the usual skipping of certain titles! I have upgraded the firmware and have cured certain problems (not All). The Best thing is to keep this player on top of the AV rack, as the internals need to be kept cool for best performance and not to use heavily scratched DVD's.

I have a UK model of the 907 setup as multi region I have had some troubles with a US copy of matrix and UK gone in 60 seconds but apart from that all movies have been glitch free had a good picture and works with my DTS/AC-3 AMP great. Only down is that it will not read cds written with a CD writer

Samsung is now fixing these players for free after a lawsuit. I'm going to get mine fixed.

The problem is that Samsung uses cheap loaders... The chips are the same almost across all brands, but the DVD loaders are where the main difference is.
