Uncle's Stereo
I called the store last week and got a salesman named Andrew Kent on the phone. After a few moments, I realized this salesperson was not realy interested in fielding my questions regarding B&K equipment. I'm sorry to say his mannerism was quite terse resulting in phone skills that are severly lacking the poise and equitte needed for success. I wish this was not the case as I have spoken to other salespeople there who seem to have proper demeanor. Needless to say, Uncles lost this sale as I was so put aside by Mr. Kent.

The above comment is obviously another BOGUS attack(comment)on this site!!I have dealt with Mr.Kent on numerous occassions,I have spent a great deal of money at Uncle's and have been treated with respect and good manners.I will continue to buy from Uncle's,however I will ignore these sites from now on. (Just look at all the Bogus comments on this site that were removed and acknowledged by the Webmaster himself as to how phony they are!!!)The comments are ludicrous and obvious to anyone with a brain...................Gary

I purchased a Yamaha Dsp-a1, Nht Vt-2 speakers and 3 NHT VSa's for surrounds and a Denon tuner in November 1999 (dropped about 5 grand). Andy Kent was the salesperson and I found him helpful and patient. I orginally ordered a Yamaha 1095 but changed my mind after it had shipped and decided on the dsp-al. All I had to do was to refuse shipment of the 1095 and pay for shipping back (no big deal since it was my decision to change). Anyways I am happy with my system and would do business with Uncles in the future.

I'm concerned about Uncle's "covering" the manufacturer's warranty as they state on their web site. Did anyone actually get "repair" work done by these guys? I recently bought a Yamamha RX-V1 from them -- it has a 2 year warranty if "sold by an authorized dealer". I feel a little ill all of a sudden.

Stay away from these crooks!!! They also operate as www.reliableaudiovideo.com Whay a joke they are. Nothing but a credicard charging co who will never deliver your product. I placed an order on 7-3 and was charged the SAME day for the order. I was told I would have my product in 4-5 business days. Then when I couldn't get a tracking number from them they keep saying, oh it will ship out today, call back tomorrow for the tracking number. This has happened for three days in a row. Then they say they were shipping via trucking company that doesn't even deliver to my area. Then they tell me they gave me too good of a deal and would lose money on my transaction. Like that's my freaking problem. I'll be lucky if I ever get my money back. Stay away from scam artists like these.

I bought over $3,000 worth of electronics equipment from Uncles Stereo about 18 months ago. When I made the purchase, I was happy with the price and delivery. However, almost 2 months ago, the receiver went bad. So, I called Uncle's for service because it was still under warranty (2 yr). Initially, they seemed very reluctant to arrange for the pickup for service and asked me to switch it off for upto 48 hours, etc and that didn't fix it. Finally, after messing with customer service, they finally picked it up (UPS) a week later. I was told it will take upto 3 weeks for the service. After the 3 week period, I talked to Uncles almost everyday trying to get my piece back, but I received one excuse after the other about service delays - a lot of which seemed very inconsistent - Beware of their customer service people - I've not heard this much BS in my life. After five weeks, they gave me a UPS tracking number telling me that they had shipped the item. I checked with UPS and they indicated that they never picked it up. Well, I got back to Uncles and they wasted another week supposedly trying to trace a package that UPS received... Go Figure!! Anyhow, they finally fessed up to the fact that they lost it and would provide a replacement ... an upgraded model. After 7 weeks, they sent me unit, which doesn't even come close to the one I had. So, I'm still waiting for them to send me a replacement unit equivalent to the one I had. Needless to say that I've been very frustrated and extremely angry with them. They have no concept of customer service. Thinking back, buying from Uncles was my biggest mistake... I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD THEIR PRICE IS, IT AIN'T WORTH IT. If you want to still buy from them, go ahead, but make sure you pray everyday that nothing goes wrong with your equipment.

Please understand that Uncles Stereo is the same company as Reliable A/V - No one knows this including the BBB of NY (they do now!). Why is this important; because numerous complaints have been registered with the BBB about Uncles Stereo, but none with Reliable A/V (until now). Reliable is a front to cover up poor business practices of Uncles Stereo - Check with the NY BBB yourself. My situation ended up OK thanks to my great credit card co. who refunded my charge and pressed legal action against Reliable to get reimbursed. In short, they will tell you they are an authorized dealer (they are NOT) and promise shipment, but never provide proof of shipment. When your product does NOT arrive, they will let you cancel the order, but will make you pay for the shipping charge on the item you never received (and that never shipped). How can you trust a company who will post bogus statements to get their ratings up (see above). Don't take any chances with these guys!

I purchased Moster Power 5100 unit from them (actually from speedandsound.com, I didn't realize it was the same company). Actually, I don't know what I was smoking since I usually do research on merchant before buying anything. Anyway, I received defective unit and then found that speedandsound.com web site was now offline. Phone number listed on the receipt was busy 100% of the time. With Web search I found that the company was, in fact, Uncle Stereo and found their phone number. Interesting, that first time my experience was pretty good - they emailed me UPS return label the same day and I shipped the unit back. However, when I received replacement unit, I found that it was some old unit with scratches, obviously used and not quite working. When I called Uncle Stereo again, they promptly apologized and said they were sending me another shipping label for the return. Since it would take two more weeks to receive the replacement (I am on West Coast), I asked them if they can ship new unit before receiving the old one. They said yes, but they would have to charge for the second unit and then refund me. I agreed since I really needed the replacement soon. I received new unit in perfectly working order, but I had to call 5 (five) times to get the return label for the old unit. Now they received the old unit and guess what - still no refund. I am wondering how long will it take. I guess I will just file a duspute with my CC company.

The products they sell seem shady when you receive them. I order a set of speakers from them which took 3-4 weeks to deliver. They supposedly had them in stock when you order online. When the center channel came it looked like it was repackage. Which it was since the serial numbers were covered with a generic number. Also on of the speakers was missing four screws, so it was hanging off the box. I ask them to replace the speaker and I always get the run around. It's been three months now. I wouldn't buy anything from these guys. For the rest of the speakers, all of them had been repackaged with the serial numbers replaced.

About eleven months ago I bought a Sunfire True Subwoffer Junior from Uncle's. They shipped both a LCD TV and the speaker promptly. Three months ago the speaker went dead. I got a UPS label immediately from them to send the little monster back for repair. I have not heard a word in 90 days. Is this par for the course? Also, how long has their Website been down? Has anyone had the same experience or am I just getting too worked up? I'd like some feedback. bill@horstman.biz
