It's 1,5 years, and still, probably the best dvd-player in my house :)

Denon DVD-3000
This is for Dino's comments on track/layer switching problems. I had the same fault on my DVD3000 and took it in along with the rented movie to show the retailer. I played it on both my machine and one of their machines (Denon, not sure which one) and proved it was the DVD unit. They sent it away and replaced the optical unit (I have no idea if it was a better optical unit or the same type?) with a new one. I got the same movie out again and presto!!! Good as new. Try and obtain the faulty "software" as they say and prove it against another machine. You might have more luck.
