RCA 5230z
For what I paid, this was an easy choice. It was cheaper than anything else by at least $70 and since it plays DVD and DTS I really don't care if DIVX survives or not. It is handy to have DIVX since I am very close to Circuit City and SoundTrack and somewhat far from a DVD rental. I like having both formats available. Limited output, only optical and S-link (no component), for Digital Dolby is the only issue so far; and that would only affect possible future expansion. Things are changing so quickly that this stuff is all likely to be replaced in the near future, and so maybe is best regarded as commodities. Use and then throw away. The modem hookup was a pain but once set up appears innocuous. Good support from RCA folks when system required a reset.

RCA 5230z
My RCA 5230Z worked fine for six months or so but now it has trouble reading the ends of most DVDs (anything with layer switches) and can't read CDs at all. I'm replacing it with a Toshiba SD3109 which should arrive any day now.
