Alright seeing as how I haven't seen all the episodes I won't actually vote.

I absolutely HATED the animation. It totaly ruined what appears to be a decent storyline. I suppose somdday I'll sitdown and watch the rest of the series but for the moment I can't get past the Sinamascope looking charcaters with their overly long pointy noses and size 13 feet. I wish someone would redo all the charcter drawings so I could actually sit through the rest of the episodes.

It was a great series, but the ending was so disappointing! The author obviously couldn't write romance because no one who they wanted until the end, and then they were like, "oh, we'll see each other in our visions" What was that? Everything else was perfect though.

For those of you who doesn't like the ending: maybe you guys haven't lived enough to appreciate the sad face of the reality in life?

People DO say goodbye in real life, you know... You might say the anime doesn't have to follow what happens in real life, but when it does, it becomes a hell of a lot more convincing and realistic.

I personally like the ending very much. I thought the happy-happy ending of, say, "Fushigi Yuugi," was too sudden, unrealistic and, in a way a bit childish.

Someone said that the writers "didn't know how to write a romantic story," but we should know that it is MUCH easier to write romantic stories popping out of nowhere than to write a conclusive ending where you put perspectives together and leave the viewers something to think about, other than a cheap pink romance, as the series ends. It should be a matter of taste, but if the series ended with Hitomi and Van together, I wouldn't have given it a 10.

OK... Here's what I gotta say... I LOVED IT!!! I really loved the animation, storyline, EVERYTHING (except maybe the ending...)!!! I'm a really picky anime person.. I mean REALLY REALLY picky. So if I think it's a good anime 8 out of 10 it really is (I'm not saying that everyone agrees with me or anything like that)

Though I really did like the anime and all... I really didn't like the ending... I know that things like that usually happen but still... I REALLY REALLY wanted to see Vahn and Hitomi together... (~.~) Still, I liked the anime and I really think everyone should see it!

This is my favorite anime of all time. And I have seen a lot!
There are so many good things about this series. The story moves, the pace is never slow or dull. The characters, especially Hitomi and Van, are very involving. Each has the personality of a human with faults and downfalls. The seiyuu in the series are some of the best ever. Maaya Salamoto makes Hitomi seem so innocent yet so strong, Seki Tomokazu conveys the stubborness of Van as well as his great vulnerability.
The music is breath taking. Yoko Kanno is a pure music genius and this is the best of her work. The animation is beautiful. I hate when people say "I don't like the noses." This series has some of the best animation of a TV show I have ever seen.
The plot is very involving. One can not watch only one episode...they are compelled to watch multiple episodes in a row to see where the story goes. Especially towawrds the end. I would have hated to be living in Japan and watching as it came on TV, I would have gone insane with anticipation.
I have watched this series all the way through at least ten time. I am starting to wear out my videos! Please, watch this, it comes as highly recommended!

Oh my... is there possibly anything else I can say that hasn't been said? Wonderful plot, complex characters that you find yourself caring about (well most of them), a very distinctive animation style (dammit, I don't care if the characters have big noses! Have you people even *seen* Silent Mobius? There's gigantic schnozzes for ya...), and simply BEAUTIFUL music. I give this anime my absolute highest recommendation. It deserves nothing less than that.

Okay, I LOVE THIS SERIES. I haven't made it all the way to the end yet though. A lot of people wanted Van and Hitomi to be together, but I want Hitomi and Amano. I mean, she DID like him first, and I feel sorry for the poor guy. He's finally gonna give her a kiss and she's swooped into the sky. That has got to be disturbing. Plus he cared about her, he paged her and talked to her mother during the series, even though she couldn't reach him. A lot of people were bothered by the immense noses, but I like the original design. It's different, and after about two episodes I was completely used to it. I'd say this show is MUCH deeper then other animes, such as DBZ. DBZ is more of a 'starter-anime-fan' show. Escaflowne has great plot, great characters, and I hope a believable ending.

Oh, God. To mention Escaflowne in the same sentence with Drag-on Ball Z is a blasphemy.

Hitomi comes back to her world and Amano goes out with Yukari. Hooray.

i love this show so much. i love how it is concentrating on the war and escaflowne but then they slip seens that tell u van loves hitomi and hitmoi loves van. to me that is really cool.they hit u with those sceens by surprise. i think this is one the best anime around. it ranks pretty high on my list for best shows on telivision.

This is one of the better TV series I've seen in a while.

The animation is modern with very fluid movement, great colors, and also great character design! There's dragons, castles, knights, flying gizmos, dog-men, and various machinery. Very well done!

Plot is very original, though somewhat esoteric as things develop. Some might say it gets a little bit silly (though they seem completely serious throughout). Originally I gave this a 10 for plot. However, upon watching it a 3rd time (during a span of 2 years), certain aspects began to unravel. Key among them is the Shoujo aspect of the series which I absolutely cannot STAND.

No vote on the humor, though it is sprinkled here and there. Overall this is a fairly serious series.

Soundtrack is very bright and apparent during the series. For the most part consists of background music in the classical/choral/liturgical genre (Carmina Burana-ish) though I do recall one "love" song that plays. The background music is a little reminiscent of the Record of Lodoss Wars soundtrack which I enjoy.

Overall still a good series if you're into the more serious drama-type anime.

This is one of THE best anime's I've ever seen. Let's just say when I started watching it I was only 5 and now I'm 15 and can remember vividly what it's about. It left a lasting impression so I bought the damn thing(colectors edition) for about $150.00. The sound track for it is one of the best I have ever heard or played. I'm in band and I got my teacher to devote the entire show to Escaflowne. Especially Falken's theme. I just love the way the bells come in. Oh and The plot may not be original, but the whole twist with Selena and Dilanou! briliant. But the love triangle.... Hitomi looks like a freak'n guy I mean come on.
