Meade ETX-90EC
The spotting scope is absolutely horrible. And if you want to find something you need to be able to see through this scope. If Meade would have made it easier to use this spotting scope, it would be a very, very nice telescope.

Although the optics are pretty good for the price, they do not compare to Russian Mak optics. Worse, the scope is not nearly as ruggedly built as a Russian Mak. Plastic parts will eventually break. The mount is fairly flimsy and will cause trouble as it is loaded with glitches. My brother has this scope, and he has done quite a bit of repair and modification to it. He bought it used for $200 from a local dealer. He admits that for new price you would be much better off getting a used Russian Mak as it would outlast several ETX Maks. I own a 6" LOMO Russian Mak, and it's in another league. Not just the aperture increase, but the quality gain is very evident and it's a rugged all-metal scope.

I've had the ETX-90 ec for about 5 years and I am still amazed by it's performance.
I have taken alot of web-cam images of the Moon and Planets and find the mount and drive adiquate.
I have managed to produce a sharpe image of the Crater Copernicus that measures 30mm accross.
Visually and through images I can regularly detect craterlets within the crater Plato.
Banding, Cassini division and planet / ring shadow are routine.
A week or so ago while observing a very high Moon was able to push the magnification to x200 and still had a dim, but sharpe image. This isn't possible all the time and depends on the seeing at the time.
I don't observe deep sky as much but I have spotted M1, M78, M31, M2 and of cause M42 is very detailed.
I compared it to my short tube 80mm and there was no contest on Moon and Planets.
The only down side I feel is being unable to acheive low magnification.
At x 39 (32mm Plossl) I see slight vignetting, so a max feild I feel is about 1.25 degrees.
I have recently removed the tube from the mount and use it on an EQ3 mount and tripod. Very stable and easy to use.
