Saber Marionette J TV
This series won't ever make a critics' list of 'revolutionary'
or 'provocative' anime, but it does fulfill perfectly its own
purpose: both to entertain you and make you think a little bit
on what being 'human' really means. It is, in the end, an
endearing and very *real* story, which is what makes it so special.
I have seen most of the titles on this list and I can tell you
that this series gets my highest recommendation for *all* viewers.
I defy you to watch episode 24 with a dry eye.

I think you are wrong.
Tenchi miyu is a completely different thing
and not by the same company either.
Here what I think where this movie fits into.
Macross, Gundam, Key metal Idol, robot carnival.
In short, science fiction.

It got mix of comedy, all the sillyness you can think of thrown into
it. Remember that these girl are not real but are of tin can hehe
that act just like human being due to advanced circuitry.
They sleep, snore, and get jealous, get mad, feel happy.
I guess you can say that they can replace a real girl. :)
I wonder if we can get some for real convenient.
I seen only a few of this a wondering if I can collect them all.
Quite addictive I say even so I dare not to watch it twice.
I mean who has all the time in the world, and it probably
get boring.

If you like nuku nuku cat girl you'll love this series
voice actor for lime is megumi hashibara.
Key metal idol is like it but not really
is actually quite different where it try to be a real human being
while this series is plain funny and sorta old fashion too
like the japanese old tradition, old custom?
another series bubble gum crisis kinda suck when compared to this
it too serious and well just plain dumb.
what else can I say? saber J is just pretty good and its for anyone.

I appreciate the creators' attempt to give this show some deeper significance, but Saber Marionette J just rubs me the wrong way.

I found Hanagata annoying and despicable, and yet whenever the "heroes" of the show beat him up, it drags them down, too, by making them seem mean-spirited.
Another problem I had with this show is that Lime just annoys the hell out of me (she's second only to C-ko)--my favorite episode is the one where she has her "heart" stolen and she shuts down. Inwardly, I cheered.

If you don't mind Lime and Hanagata, there are probably a lot of good points about this show, which is why I subdued my urge to give it a zero and gave it a 4 instead.

I've never watched another anime in a series that drew so many different emotions!
The characters' personalities are so well developed, you fall in love. And it breaks your heart the way things end.
But if you're looking for a marvelous storyline, here's where to find it ^_^

Saber Marionette J is a very enjoyable anime worth watching to the very last volume. Lime was a little annoying at first, but eventually she starts to grow on you. The other characters were funny and worth remembering. While this type of concept has been done before(all the female characters are in love with the main character, very Tenchi Muyo)The anime is very funny and well-executed, the more serious portions of the show were very good as well, and askthe question about what it means to be human. The ending was very predictable, but very well-done and was better than most of the typical vague ending we usually se in anime. A good anime that gets better within each volume.

(Oh, and there is a sequel. The OVA, "Saber Mariontte J Again" which takes place after the TV Series.)

i love the story line, i love the scene and the comedy. maybe you people out there should watch this great movie in Japanese dialogue, trust me if you watch this movie in english dubbed , it sucks. first of all megumi hayashibara is the voice actor on Lime. she has a very cute voice. and second of all hanagata is the funniest, dummiest character that i ever seen.

In my opinion a flawless story. Adorable and hilarious heroines and heroes. Mean nasty villains. But you can even get to like them a little. Sad and touching at times. I cry every time Lime doesn't want her heart any more. Maybe Mr. Scrooge who wrote previously needs an Otome circuit. Many long series start to recycle parts of the story, but this doesn't. It just gets better and better. I agree about Hayashibara. She is the best. All the va's do a wonderful job though.
And best of all, the new series SMJ Again, continues the quality. The villains take on an uproariously funny turn. And a new Marionette comes on the scene. And more crying. There is also a seperate video, Saber Marionette R, which is more violent and looks different. Cute characters, but serious. Hooray to whoever cooked up this marvelous story. 10+.

This was the best anime series I have ever seen. Me and a bunch of my friends watched it last night and this morning, every single episode. I haven't slept in 28 hours. It took us about 14 hours to watch the whole thing but it was worth it. If you have a chance, watch this series!

I really liked this anime. It had a nice storyline, and also a few episodes where they just were having fun, something I often miss other great, such as Evangelion. Lime's really cute (Megumi Hayashibara - I like!), Hanagata's soo funny too!

I think there were only two things that I didn't love in this anime, those being Cherry, who is too sweet and nice for me, and the Saber Dolls chests (IMHO, I don't think it's attractive when they are that big =P ).

The series goes like this:

SMJ TV -> SMJ Again -> Saber Marionette X -> Saber Marionette R (I think)
