Neon Genesis Evangelion TV
The animation was done well, not the best, but my expectations are high. The storyline is exceptional. Characters were well built. Points of the show are hilarious, but it can also be depressing, I would recommend watching it. This anime is superb.

One of the most intricate stories ever told. After watching the entire thing twice, I'm still left uncertain. However, one thing is completely certain: This is one great piece of art.

Animation:: As far as any TV series goes, immaculate. Detailed to a fault, clean, and crisp. Movement involving both people and machines was as realistic as it comes, and at times characters could be defined simply by the way they moved. (though this may be a style issue) The background wasn't static either, which was refreshing. Worth every point of the 8 it received, and if I wasn't so nit-picky, more.

Plot:: Absurdly involved. Not only is there the main conflict, Angels (bad guys) against humans and EVA (good guys), but it can also be considered a character-driven affair, due to how complex each and every character is. Both plot and characters are revealed painstakingly slowly, but there's enough action going on that you forget about how little you really know. This is one plot that sucks you in from the very first, and spits you out at the end, very confused. Moving, original, and completely unforgetable. A 10, through and through.

Humor:: For such a serious anime, there was a surprising amout of humor involved. There's some inuendo ("Move the beer can, move the beer can!! --toothpicks!?" [if you've seen it, you know the scene]), and simple character humor generated by the friction between them, mainly Asuka and Shinji. At times, however, it does seem a bit innappropriate for what's happening plot-wise, earning it a somewhat lower 7.

Soundtrack:: The music fills every scene. The track "The Beast" that plays during Angel attacks fuels the battles with heart-pounding suspense, and "Ode to Joy" will never quite be the same to me. Opening theme is catchy, and definately sing-along worthy. Remaking Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" for the ending was a lovely touch, and gives you something else to hum besides "Cruel Angel's Thesis." (the title of the opening) The soundtrack album is worth your money, the music can be eerie, ("The Beast") it can be cute (Misato's theme), and it can be just plain strange. (Asuka's theme) Great music, worth it's score of 10.

Overall:: A definate must-see for the more mature anime fan. Darker themes, and the almost blasphemous touch used with different objects will scare some off. This isn't one for the kids, if not for the violence and language, then for the simple fact that they probably won't get it.
