Sony STR-DE925
The sound and features of this unit are good value for the price. However the problem of turning it on and getting no sound is about to drive me nuts. The unit is going back for the third (and last) time. If they can't fix it I'm upgrading to Denon

I purchased this unit when it first came out and am satisfied with its performance. I had to call the store I purchased it from when I got it home because the digital light would not go on and for two days I thought the unit was working in DD 5:1 when it wasn't. It turned out that some DVD's have to be set up on the main menu to process the 5:1 DD signal which I did not know at the time. As soon as I used the setup to select the 5:1 signal the blue light went on and I could hear the difference right away.

Also my DVD player has a button on the remote for audio which if pressed will go through the various audio selections availible for a given DVD.

I gave up trying to program the remote on the Sony receiver, too much trouble, I just use it for the volume control.

AWESOME reciever, I dont understand why somebody would say not much coming out ot the rear speakers because you can easily + them up. However only reason I didnt get it a 10 was because for me I needed more watts per channel. I have a large room and I blew the reciever twice already. I do not reccomand it for a large room. Overall, GREAT! (also, DTS, WOW!)

The price/specs ratio was definitely right when I bought it. Just recently, however, the rear surround channel stopped working. I have no idea what the problem might be. The unit heats up a lot. I could fry eggs on top of it...
