I'm certainly considering the purchase of a DSP-A1. I contacted a couple
of mail order houses that were listed in this forum and found that one would
ship to California and the other wouldn't. The house that refused to ship
said that Yamaha will not honor the warranty on DSP-A1s that had been
purchased mail order. A call to Yamaha confirmed this statement.

I have owned the Yamaha DSP A1 for several months and I am convinced that it is the best intergrated amp on the market at the present time. Having owned two channel Mc Intosh separates for years, I believe the only way to better the DSP A1 is with high end seperates at a cost of about 10 grand plus. This makes the $2000-2200 street price for this amp seem like a bargin.

Yamaha DSP A-1
One of the best investments that I have ever made. The unit totally rocks! Excellent build construction and ease of use considering how many options this beast has.

Until I can find room for separates, this unit is the ONE!

Yamaha DSP A-1
I was having this little problem and if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.
I have a big problem with my Yamaha DSP-A1 Stereo Receiver. I do not
think any of the S-Video inputs or outputs work.
When I hook up the DVD S-Video cable directly to the TV S-Video input
the video signal goes through. But when I use the same cable to connect the
DVD S-Video out to the Receiver S-Video in and select DVD/VCR3 I get sound
but no no video from the DVD player. Also when I hook the S-Video Out of
the receiver to the S-Video input on the TV I get sound but not video on the
TV.
So I am under the impression that somehting is wrong with the stereo
receiver unless forsome reason it is suppose to do that.
Let me know what you think and what we can do to resolve this little
delema.
Please Email me at jdkluck@mtu.edu

Thanks
Donnie

I heard that Yamaha has already launched Yamaha DSP-A2. Is this new A2 in the U.S. market? If so, do you know where I can buy one? How about the price? I hope it would be less than 2500......

I think that the Yamaha is good but the Sony TA-E9000ES with TA-N9000ES is even better ... so i bought it too.. i'm planning to sell my A1. The new Sony DVP-S7700 DVD player is awesome.. I bought some DTS records yesterday and they are really incredible sounding with my Infinity Kappa series loudspeakers.

Yamaha DSP A-1
This is the best HT integrated amp or receiver I have ever owned. Listened to several receivers including Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, B&K. Bought the DSP-A1 because of the superior sound in both DPL and DD. The addition of DTS is great. Plenty of power. The 7 channel setup is GREAT! Plenty of inputs. I love the ability to hook up stereo subs. Up to three subwoofers can be connected (left, right, plus mono). The main and centers channels have pre-outs and main ins. All channels have pre-outs. Nothing comes close to the versatility of the A1. If you are looking for DPL, DD, and DTS in one unit, look no further than the Yamaha DSP-A1.

Yamaha DSP A-1
This unit is Yamaha's very best in home theater.
With the advent of all the new receivers comming out (IE. Denon 5700, Marantz SR-18, B&K AVR 202, etc) The DSP A1 is the only amp on the market with a proven track record of glitch free operation.
You will NOT have any of the following problems with the DSP A1:

1) noisy fan
2) power supply hum
3) buzzing, hissing, popping, clicking, cracking, smacking, etc
4) battery hungry remote
5) audio drop outs
6 channels fading out, unit turning off, lights dimming
7) overheating, frying eggs, burning wires, starting fires, etc

This review is a tribute to Yamaha's perfect track record at providing reliable products that actually work when deployed massively in the field. Way to go YAMAHA !!!!

Best of all, this unit can now be had for only $1999
Nothing on the market at this price point can offer its features, quality, upgradability, usability, and reliability...

Yamaha DSP A-1
An absolute must for any Home Theater! I have listened to several integrated surround amplifiers/receivers and the Yamaha DSP-A1 is a clear winner! The Yamaha has plenty of power from the internal amps! The DTS/DOLBY DIGITAL processing is superb! The Yamaha sounds so clean and precise! It has provisions to hook up 3 subs. There are plenty of inputs. The front effects channels definitely make a difference in the front soundstage. If you want a great Home Theater, check out the DSP-A1!

Yamaha DSP A-1
Clean sound to as loud as I (and out of safety my speakers) could take it. Imaging was all I could ask for whether I was listening to Jazz or Heavy Metal. Fourplay and the new Russ Freeman/Craig Chaquico effort "From the Redwoods to the Rockies " provided tight bass, warm mids and crisp highs and DD was truly astounding, placed me in the center of the action rather than creating a soundstage in front of me like Pro-Logic. I am not even close to finished tweaking the various adjustments i.e. presence room size, surround room size, initial delay, surround delay, etc. etc. etc... This is IMHO the absolute best value on the market today!

I absolutely love this receiver. Music is also phenominal. Nothing beats the Yamaha at this price point. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the amplification in this receiver.
