bought this to replace an older nad receiver, hooked it up, and received a deep hum from my front channels. returned it for a new one. this one's display did not work (was blank) scapped it and went back, guessing third time is a charm, with this one, cd input did not function in stereo. returned it and bought an onkyo ds939 which i fell in love with. will never buy from yamaha again.

Have had now for over a year. Awesome unit. So far, I have not found this unit lacking in any way. It may not have as much power per channel as some of the newer units (Denon, Marantz), but it still cranks! I will have to check their new 6.1 system now based on how well this unit has worked.

I just got the gold DSP-A1 integrated amp and i could not be any happier. If anyone is contemplating on whether they should get the gold or the black... GET THE GOLD its the best looking unit out there. The DSP modes are fantastic. Outstanding audio quality. I can crank up the volume high and not get any distortion/clipping. Some people don't like the remote but i love it. Easy to use once you get used to it. Yamaha didn't leave anything out when they designed this unit. I take pride in owing this unit.

I have a question about 96 kHz input on DSP-A1. Is there anybody who tried a DVD player with 24bit/96 kHz output such as the Pioneer DVD-717 and DVD-515, California Audio Labs CL20 and CL-25, Marantz DVD-890, Micromega Premium DVD 2 together with a Chesky 24/96 record. What will happen to my DSP-A1 if I connect to the digital input one of these DVD players. Can I see the 96 kHz sign on the A1's display ? I'm planning to buy a DVD player in the near future and I don't know is the 24bit/96 kHz digital output is important me or not. I have the A1 since this year January and I'm very satisfied with it, except the remote controller. I don't like the remote, because I can't reprogram all of the buttons.
