I was shocked at the end when the credits rolled by and saw that it was made in 1985! D is a gorgeously drawn character, and the first cartoon I've ever been attracted to!

I loved this movie. It had excelent characters and perfect animation. Even though ive seen in many sites that it got 2 or 3 stars, I would really give it a five star rating. It is nothing like ive ever seen before and this movie brought me into Anime.

It was alright with the story but they could have done much better. I don't want to sound like a wuss, but he had a face on his hand. Where did that come from? So much of the story isn't explained and it could have taotally been better.

It's been a long time since I've seen this film but from what I remember it was one of the best anime movies I've ever seen, the only thing I disliked was the end battle with Magnus Lee, but I heard there was two versions of the battle and if there are I've only seen one. WHOM EVER THINKS VAMPIRE HUNTER D SUCKS GET THE HELL OF THIS SITE.

I remember seeing it when I was younger on Sci-Fi. I had searched for it for almost 7 years until it came out on video. It was better than I had remembered it. The animation is spactacular. It's a classic romance/horror vampire flic. Totally awsome characters. Wish there was a sequal.

vampire hunter d is the greatest movie that I've seen (yes even better tan "akira" or "ninja scroll") and with this new movie coming out it's only going to get better.The movie itself was funny, sad, and made me mad all at the same time.

I think that "Vampire Hunter D" is a great anime for any anime lover and that you have not seen anime till you have seen this. The story line is extremly good, but I just think that they should have showed some of his past because I think it would have helped some people understand why he is hunting vampires. This movie has got great characters because of how they each effect the movie in thier own way. I think the only thing that made this movie "funny" was D's sidekick hand. I don't think that the movie was depressing at all. Uplifting? I am not really sure how to answer that. But all together I think that this movie should not be missed by any anime fan.

This is definitely an *excellent* film to watch, and should be added to any anime fan's collection. The nice, dark animation perfectly fits the film. The story line is great, and the characters were nicely developed for the most part. I loved this 80 minute movie from the intro scene in the field all the way until the ending theme, and I typically don't like horror movies. I gladly state that "Vampire Hunter D" is a well done film that will stand the test of time.

I really liked it. It had good plot and the animation was okay considering when it was made. I think everyone who is interested in anime has watched this movie at least once or twice. I really find it amazing how people are still interested in this movie even if it was made in 1985.
