Y'all may not agree, but I thought it was second only to Ghost in the Shell... Besides, thanks to VHD and a little judicious use of the IRC, I met my husband, who also thinks it's tres cool.
I love the character of D... Doris could use a spine, however, since it seems to have been sucked out of her when Magnus got his first sip.... Lamika was a pain in the tail, and I'm glad she had the good taste to die in the end... but other than that, I loved it. I may have seen a little better dubbing in other films, but it sure beats the heck out of the "dubbing" they use on Godzilla movies, and the artwork was a little grainy, however, I thought that suited the whole gothic mood and the style of the picture wonderfully. However, the character that made the whole movie for me, and should have recieved more screen time, was, of course, the Demon Hand.

Perhaps, I'm a bit biased on this one. 'D' is the second anime I watched and actually realized it was anime. (That's excluding Speed Racer on late-night t.v. years ago.) I like the animation and the storyline is just in one of my favorite genres... post-apocolyptic horror.

The Anime is awesome the Movie better. lots of blood and good Fight scenes. Oh by the the way the girl is ssssweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttt. (Love the pussy but I think she shaved it.) overall Vampire Hunter D is awesome.

FUCK ALL!!! who say that Vampire Hunter D sucks!!! This is the greatest Anime I've seen in a long time, great animation and storyline. I've seen both the american version (hacked to pieces) and the Japanese version (VERY KICK ASS!!!). So lick my sweatey nut sac you fools who think that VHD sucks!!!

Dark, gothic, and most importantly, ORIGINAL. Vampire Hunter D is a classic. It's a shame that most animation companies won't take more risks, and rid the current anime titles of their mediocrity. Osh

When you vote for this, remember, it was made in 1985. For it's time, the story was a solid story with a few interesting twists(half-vampires, mutants, talking hands, and the son of Dracula), a mix of suspense, horror, and action with a little bit of love mixed in. The music is pretty good, the characters are original(read: surreal), and the animation is still top notch. It just happens to be 13 years out of date.

Vampire Hunter D is,Was,And always be one of the best anime ever made.D reminded me of a run-down version of ShadowRun(Those who know what thisgame is know what i'm talking about)there are a few things the anime is missing.
1:Too Short! VHD seemed like it was only a few miniutes long...guess it's true
what hey say about time flying...
2:Cyberpunk effect Lack: VHD misses when it comes to the trademarks of the Cyberpunk Genere,which it could have fit WONDERFULLY.come on,who would have liked to see reigensi with a few cyber-enhancements...he could have used a cyberarm after D lopped it off too.
But it has to be one of the BEST anime i've ever seen.cant wait for the remake!

Who better to fight blood suckers than one like this? What a cool hat! What about that huge sword he has? Doesn't that just say, "Don't mess with me if you don't want to get hurt?" What better way to kill blood suckers other than using a sword that could go through about 5 at once? You will not find a vamire anime as good as this one in a million years.

Most Japanease amimation has little or no plots, Vampire Hunter D is one
with a terrificly developed storyline. Once you start watching it, it is
very hard to push stop or change the channel.

Amazingly good for a Streamline dub/translation. Typically Streamline's stuff has horrid voice acting and a pathetic script, but this is excellent. Except that D sounds a bit like He-Man.

Aside from that, the whole thing is held together with excellent animation (especially considering its age) and music by TM Network.

All in all, a good movie that won't make you have any life-changing revelations, but is extremely entertaining nonetheless.
