Sony DVP-S7700
My evaluation of the Sony may not be extremely meaningful, as I did not compare to the competition. So I will only vote a 9, as it may be that there exists, or will exist, a better perfection. But for now, it satisfies me. I paid $795 from Oade Bros. I wanted something that would not become obsolete and I believe I made the right choice.

Simply the Best. This DVD player produces stunningly clear pictures
and awesome sound. I can't imagine anything better!

This must be the best DVD player you can buy here in Denmark. The price is 1500,--§ So bee happy ower there for your low prices :o)

I recenly purchased the Sony Dvp s7700 Dvd player, and am amazed with the quality of the picture and sound. The detail in the picture is sharp, with no major artifacts. Very black blacks, and vivid colors with no bleed into other areas of the picture. The audio was impressive regarding details. Snow falling, and the usual explosions are both handled equally well. As a cd player, the 7700 makes old cds seem new again. One great piece or hardward.

My first DVD player and I was blown away by both the audio and the video quality. Rock-steady slow-motion and freeze-frames are a plus. I recommend it without hesitation.

I have had my DVP-7700 for a week now and love it. Best quality I have seen in terms of construction and picture quality is first rate. Tried the Denon 2500 first and prefered the Sony hands down.

I would give a 10 if it had a back-lit and more ergonomic remote. Other than those gripes, I can't imagine having purchased a better machine. It's the first player I've used in which EVERYTHING simply works like it should. Love the fast access and smooth scanning.

I have had this player about a week. I give this machine a perfect 10. I just love this machine. I connected it to my Denon AVR3200 through component output.Picture quality is excelent, dvd sound fantastic and Color is very natural in my Sony 32XBR48. Every thing work perfect .It worth every penny. For CD it plays flawless every single old CD that I have had problem in my yamaha Cd player. Now I no longer use my 1986 YAMAHA single CD player.

Yet another over priced "reference" player from a wannabe high-end manufacturer. This one doesn't even pass below-black on the Pluge! Same soft Sony picture I absolutely hate. I'll take the Denon or DV-09.

I had Sony DVP-S7700 for a month loan and noticed some unpleasant things.
1) The picture is too soft like on TV-screen
2) CDs sound is poor. Too poor even for DVD player
3) The player is slightly overpriced.
Then, if you`re not a great fan of Sony products :) and you`re looking for a good DVD player both for DVDs and CDs, better purchase Denons: DVD5000 if you have a lot of money, or DVD3000 (for the bargain price).

i bought this player two months ago, and i think it´s the best player on the market, the picture is sharp, the sound is great and it´s built like a tank. i had the pioneer 500, pioneer 505, panasonic 300 and the pioneer 909 and i think no other player is better than the sony 7700. believe me this ist best player
