In my mind Hades Project ties with Dangaio for the best "classic style" mecha design of all time. "Classic style" is my term for the mechanical, robot-based mecha commonly featured until the mid-90s (as seperate from the newer, more experimental designs seen in titles like Evangelion and Vision of Escaflowne). This is the main reason for my 9. The characters are also cool. However, the premise is far far from original: reluctant mecha pilot must be convinced to battle evil corporation/consiracy with invincible mech only he can pilot to save the world... stop me when this sounds familiar. As you can tell from my score, it overcomes this weakness with its strengths IMHO. So, if you can get past the cliche premise and enjoy the highly imaginative designs, battle sequences, and characters you are in for quite a treat. -membrane

Blow Evalangelion EVA away.
It has better mech. It more realistic.

While EVA mecha look more demonic and twisted and skinny dude
from hell!
I did not like EVA much it is long and quite boring...

Also none of the girl are sexy at all.
None of them turn me on.

I think this one a bit under rated.
so I give it a 10 to help boost it!

It start out this guy was a loser and as he regain his memory
in the end he become overconfident and goes
whacko! HEHEHE I think he become quite demonic in the end.
Heck even treating his girl partner like dirt bag.
You find out that she isnt human but a machine!
Which of course the main guy have complete control over her.
she was captured but he can warp her into his mecha so power output
will be at max and start decimating everything.

It seem like there are different version of him he is basically
destroying all that is part of him.
some female some male. about 7 of them he is the 8th one and is actually
a reincarnate of the creator himself.

His mecha is the the most powerful of all he uses this Nova that he
clang with two fists which anyone near it is destroyed.

This is why no one can defeat him. cause he invincible!

I guess this is like watching Dangaio
but this one is better! It doesnt leave you mystified!

I really only give this an 8 but i want it's average to go up since i think it is alot better than a 4. I found the story to be very unpredictable and interesting. The corporation trying to take over the world is not much of a plot to start with but as you watch further on it gets alot more interesting than that. The mecha designs were fantastic. i just wish they moved a little more.

A rather frantic plot that shifts
between gaudy action and lots of talking &
flashbacks,some plot elements are interesting.
Artwork is somewhat muddled and stiff-looking,
animation isn´t bad but looks dated and creaky,
especially in the charachter scenes.
Overall:has some interesting ideas and drama
but only rarely enjoyable.

After seeing Volume 2 I have to update my last review. Though the story started out with somewhat of a cliched premise it actually develops into a quite original and dramatic plot. It is probably one of the deepest (and most clever) anime of it's time. Hades Project deals with themes such as honor, loyalty, love, responsibility, and genetic destiny. The designs continue to exite but become vessels through which each character realizes his/her destiny rather than being the focus of the story. Required viewing for any fan of giant robot anime. -membrane
