A faithful anime translation of the first of Mamoru Nagano's Five Star Stories graphic novels. This is an awesome story, with romance, politcal intrigue, and lots of giant robots. It's very old, but the animation quality is excellent. If you can find a copy, I suggest you go to great lengths to see it.
