I'm sure many are familiar with the manga Battle Angel Alita. The anime, "Battle Angel," however, was not nearly so successful, and was only two episodes long. Battle Angel was loosely based off of the manga, but it still kept the basic "cyberpunk distopia" theme that the manga had. Most people prefer the manga over the anime. Some go further and say the anime was terrible compared to the manga, and many manga fans hated the fact that the main character's name was changed from "Alita" to "Gally". While the anime has its flaws, it is still entertaining, and boasts some good fight sequences.

Animation: This is one of the first animes that I ever watched, and I was deeply impressed by the animation. That was years ago, and the animation is still pretty good, even by today's standards. This is what makes the battles so great to watch. My favorite scene was Gally's fight in the junk yard at the end of episode 1, and probably the best scene in the anime.

Plot: The plot was okay, although a little bland compared to the original manga story. The anime seemed to depend strongly on moving from one fight to the next, while the scenes in between moved too slowly. Perhaps if the series had been longer than two episodes, the plot could have developed further.

Soundtrack: I loved the ending song to Battle Angel, and it was the only reason why I bought the soundtrack. The music for the episodes, however, is just okay. It consists of futuristic sound effects combined with percussion, and not much of anything catchy. It is usually appropriate for the scenes where music is playing though, so I still give the soundtrack a decent rating.

Overall: This anime is entertaining to watch, but I warn you that it can get very depressing at times. I would not recommend Battle Angel for younger viewers, since it includes graphic violence, nudity, and some brief adult situations. The fight scenes are impressive and well animated, but this anime does not have much else that makes it stand out. After watching Battle Angel once, I generally only went back to watch the fight scenes, which were this anime's only strong point. If you are a loyal fan of the manga, you will probably be disappointed by the anime. But if you are just looking for a dark cyberpunk anime with gritty fight scenes, then you'll probably like this one.

Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) is NOT a comedy I don't know what some people are watching but it's not Battle Angel.
Battle Angel Alita is a Anime with violence I would suggest for viewers 16 and up, the manga and the anime has intense bloody (gore) violence and little comedy, the plot is very good. The anime has took a couple of storys from the manga. I suggest you read the manga it has massive detail to pictures and the plot. If you buy it you would not be wasting your money.

Battle Athletes is one of those shows where many (girls) from different places duke it out in athletic sports. But the two athletes I feel mostly sorry for are Anna Respighi and Mylandah Walder.

Anna is shafted wherever she goes. In the OAV she's a he, and on TV she's threatening to kill you.
Mylandah is just straight-up threatening to kill anybody who gets in her way. She wants Lahri DEAD! And I'm thinking that there's gotta be more than this...

Oh well... Battle Athletes. GO FOR THE GOAL!!

cool ass anime that asks the question "how would advanced civilizations settle there differences?" war you say, no. perhaps a fight to the death, hardly. Zero-gravity lacross? why of course what would you expect. this very funny series has some good laughs, a kick ass head master, and the craziest hairdoos this side of the galaxy. The best is OAV#2 where you learn anna's secrect, frickin hilarious.

I think the animation in the Battle Athletes TV series is great! The story line is awesome and it has characters you just have to love! The story is sometimes sad sometimes funny and when its sad its really sad and when its funny its hilarious!
