i have had it for more then year and a half.
Great and fine quality sound and picture.
Before i'd purchased it i thought it is the best DVD player
available on the market. But now it's not that "nice" as i
thought.

Today's dvd players are much more sophistisated
and more futuristic.

But still that is a quite vell running DVD

Extremely happy with the unit. Well made, good construction. Not the top of the line unit, but very well made.

No problems at all. Been using the on board decoder - great flexibility and control.

Bought the Sony DVP-S500D player a month ago and have been very happy with both the video and audio quality of the player. Played more than 20 DVD's over the last month, and it handled all of them flawlessly. It also plays CD's better than my old Sony CD changer. My only complaint is the lack of DTS output, and I think that the jog shuttle interface takes a while to get used to.

I have had this player since August. I now have 65 dvd's and each and every one plays perfectly. I originally used the onboard decoder and was quite pleased with it until I got a AC-3 reciever. Now I think the built in decoder lacks a bit of punch, but overall this is probably the best player on the market.

Excellent design and the best remote in this class. I like the LCD display. Picture quality is great except that it didn't have DTS output. I had to return the unit I bought since it had a problem where the picture suddenly goes to pause mode. If you are not looking for a DTS but need built in Dolby Digital decoder, this is the one.

Wonderful picture. S-video and component video outputs. Digital AC-3 output. Quite nice built-in AC-3 decoder.

Big Pro: I can turn off the bloody LED's! It comes very close to fiting in with my Carver equipment (Bob, I'm waiting for you, my friend...)

Big Con: What's the deal with the jog/shuttle wheel? Give me Fast Forward, Fast Reverse, Play and Stop. ( "When I was a boy, we didn't have Jog/Shuttle Wheels. We had to watch our porn *straight thru*, and if you wanted to see something again, well there went your rhythm, by gum!)
