Excellent picture quality. Very good sound, although for some reason CD audio sounds louder than DVD audio. Remove control is perfect. I've had the until since November 1998 (it set me back $399.99 along with the first 2 Highlander movies which were $20 each). I hope it lasts a long time. Excellent quality on VCD's as well (I have 3 VCD's : Pink Floyd - Pulse, Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii, and The Best Of Wham), although Pulse gets grainy at times (especially during the strobe light effect during "Learning To Fly", but that graininess happens on the PC as well, so I blame it on MPEG-1 quality).

This is a great dvd unit..I have had sony,tosiba,ect..But this rca is really good. For those who have them and dont like them oh well! Try to take care of them. It's not a toy its a sensitive piece of EQ.A good way to tell if you are any good at taking care of things is to look at the condition of the movies. Are they worn?Any scratches? If so the you are the problem.....Not RCA.....

RCA RC5210P
Worked for a few months (until out of warranty for labor) now it says "no disc" even though there is a disc in the drive. RCA apparently wants $100 to fix
*THEIR* manufacturing mistake (there's a hardware problem w/ this and other RCA players - they'll die withing 12-18 months of purchase - RCA ain't fixing it).
DO NOT BUY an RCA player - look at Apex instead: cheaper, better quality, better features. I really regret wasting $230 on this POS.

RCA RC5210P
worked good for about six months. Now it works about half the time, and for only about half the movie. Very sad. Upgraded to Toshiba SD6200, will probably toss this on in the trash.

RCA RC5210P
I compared features vs price and found little that would be considered
worth the extra money except for the name and RCA seems to have a good track record with these machines. while still entry level an excellent choice for the first time buyer that
doesn't have a pocket full of cash to blow and still whats a good quality picture.

RCA RC5210P
Great price, good picture and sound (though I only have a Pro-logic decoder so I couldn't tell you if it's on par with everyone's AC-3). Good unobtrusive menu interface. Some quirks, such as a really annoying bouncing "RCA" logo when the player isn't doing anything, and a lack of the "Advanced Options" menu as advertised in the manual. Simplistic "ergonomic" shaped remote control.

Good value.

RCA RC5210P
The video and audio quality are great, When it works!
Just at the end of the 12mo warranty period, the player stipped working - picture froze. Called RCA service center. No problem, they will send a replacment for $89.95. Replacement received via FEDEX. Shipped old unit back to RCA.

Plugged in the replacement [read refurbished] unit. No picture, no sound.

Called service center. No problem! We will ship out another one.

Received the secnd unit aia fedex. working fine. Just at 12mo, the player died again.

I would hesitate to buy anything "RCA" again.
