I got this player from an auction (Andy's Garage Sale) and paid only $130 for a refurbished unit. I got it as a second unit for the bedroom and made my 12 year old 27" Toshiba look like new using the contrast control on the player. Has a better pic than my RCA 5220p. Have had it for 3 months and no problems yet. For the price I paid or any price, can't beat it. Great features and pic quality, but poor remote.

I paid $299 for the DVD815 at Best Buy and it's been a bargain. It has even played "troublesome" disks like Lost in Space without a glitch.

It also plays the VideoCD's I've created with my HP 8100i CD writer, Ulead Media Studio Pro 5.2 and Matrox Marvel G200-TV. Not too shabby....

I'm giving it a "10" because it's met or exceeded my expectations and was VERY reasonable in price.

I think I bought my Philips/Magnavox 815 for the best price I've seen so far:$199.00 at CompUSA. They had them on sale the day after Thanksgiving and as you can imagine, they went fast. Now they sell them for $399.99. Before I bought the Philips, I had the Pioneer 414, which I took back once I got the Philips. The biggest difference in the two (to me)is that the Pioneer comes with both the coaxial and the optical output whereas the Philips has only the coaxial. Most people I've spoken with says the coaxial sounds better than the toslink. I'm not to sure about that. But for $199, how can you go wrong? Let me know what you think about coaxial vs optical.

Wow! I wanted a cheap second DVD player, and the DVD815AT was only $287 at BJ's Wholesale Club. It turned out to be much better than my more expensive "primary" DVD -- a Pioneer. I love the variable fast forward and reverse options, as well as the cool Zoom function that lets you zoom in on different parts of the screen.

It is totally awesome-the only setback is the non-lightup remote but hey-barely any DVD's have them. I got mine for $299.00 with DTS output-did anyone get it at another price? My price kills all the other competitors such as the panason D101-for 349 and you only get one dvd with it-i got 3 dvds free.
