Great price ($250.00), best picture I've ever seen (using component video output), excellent audio, a remote to die for, plays my homemade vcds and dvds flawlessly. What's not to like? Well... it won't play Super VCD discs, but does anyone's player play those? I sold my old Toshiba single-disc DVD player and bought this Sony mainly to also eliminate the need for a CD changer as well as the old DVD player, but I'm really blown away by this unit. Highly recommended.

I have a DVP-C600D.. IT DOES PLAY CDR's with no problem. So far no problems with the unit. I am very happy with this unit!!!!!!

The unit I got for 599 for computability plus picked up 5 free DVD's from
Netflix as part of the offer. This unit provides top quality performance in a great package. The unit DOES have Component out (CYK) as well as SVHS and standard RCA out plus dolby digital (but no DTS decoding). The Unit DOES play CD-R's I make with my HP 7200 surestore cd writer on generic blanks. It is a great way to archive your favorite shows for later viewing (PBS specials) and the like. Definitely recommend it if you are making your own video CD's.

I really like this player. I got it as a birthday present. It's my second DVD player. My first is an A110. Picture quality is identical. The build quality is real good. CD sound is excellent and it has component video outputs. I wish it had DTS. I paid $599 from www.computability.com. Very good remote control. It has glow in the dark keys. I recommend this player highly.

This unit plays DVD movies very well, and the CDs that it can play sound great. But even though it has dual discreet pickups, it can NOT play music CD-Rs, and it even has problems with some commercial CDs. The lack of support for CD-Rs is not mentioned any place in the specs or anywhere in the manual, and it is surprising for such a recent model. I have 3 other CD players, one that is over 7 years old, and all of them can play CD-Rs. Just a warning to anyone thinking of buying this expensive unit.

-superior audio quality (especially after watching the Earth, Wind & Fire concert DVD)
-the individual speaker set-up is very useful (customizes the sound output to the room's size)
-jog shuttle requires some time to get used to but after that it's awsome
