The best dvd player I have the plesure of using. The picture fidelity
is excellent and the sound better than Sony 7000 player. In fact
this is the new KING of DVD Player. Built like a tank and look
a million dollars.

On a scale from 1-10, this player is a 12! Most willl need a front projector, however, to see how much better it is than other players. The sharpest, most detailed picture around. Great sound too.

It's not just a 10, it's the best player out there. It has more detail than any other player. It makes all other players look soft in comparison on my 7 ft. projection screen. Don't even consider the Sony 7700 or the Denon 5000. This player has them both for lunch.

Great player. The best I've seen and the professional reviewers concur. Also a great CD player. Outputs 24/96 at the digital output. Given its CD sound, 24/96 digital output and exemplary picture, this product is a steal at $2000. I bought mine brand new for $1312. Unbelievable!

Unmatched build quality and design. Reference quality performance. Why the 7 rating? Because of something called "the law of diminishing returns". You simply don't get $2000 worth of performance. That's not a bad thing. It's a great player. I just don't think you need to spend $2000 to get performance of this caliber. Just look at any of the new Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic players. I won't pay $2000 for a DVD player no matter what it wieghs.

The DV-S9 can play discs that y old A110 couldn't
and as a CD player beats my Micromega easily

In fact, I just have a Sony DVP-S7000. I rated it a 7. However, I have the chance to try the DV-S9 together with my DVP-S7000 at my friend's home using a Song WEGA TV and connected using the component video input. If you just don't know which DVD player to buy and you got $ and you want the best, buy DV-S9. It's a really outstanding machine!

I rate it a 9 instead of 10 because:

a) it cannot play all DVDs, unlike the first batch of Sony S7000; (yes, I watch discs with area codes 1, 2 and 3 at the same time!)
b) the color is very, very good but at the same time, very, very artificial, very, very unreal and unnatural. You propably cannot find the color output by the DV-S9 in the real life. Especially the green color. Try to have a chance to look at some DVD discs with trees or grass. You'll know what I said.

Move over Sony S7000, I think you've lost this challenge by a long way.
