This set is superb! It has picture quality that is clearly great with a good DVD player using the component video inputs. It doesn't do progressive scan which a review claimed it would...

I bought my TV and it did funny things after a couple of days.
But I got the Toshiba Cert. technition to fix it and it works
great. We figured it was the Best Buy delivery guys banging
it around when they installed it and a couple of wires got loose.
When playing DVDs on it I think it looks as good as HDTV.

Best Tv I ever owned. With component video from the dvd player, some scenes look photo-quality. Sound is great and stereo imaging is better than what you could expect from cheap Tv speakers.
Only complaint: ability to maintain black! Menus could also be improved as they end up covering a lot of the Video Ess test patterns.

I was and still am entirely impressed with the TW40F80! With the composite video hookups, which accomodate the right kind of DVD player,this Toshiba TV seriously must rival almost any home theatre set-up. I've owned one for a year, every penny I spent was well worth this beatifull television.
