I've had this tv for 2 years. It had the best picture of any set I observed when I bought it. At that time I would have considered the flat screen Sony 36", but it was not HDTV ready. The picture quality is great on satellite and antenna. I enhanced the sound system with an external amp and subwoofer. I had to move my surround speaker off the tv because its magnet was causing a discoloration in one corner of the picture. I also have a 8 yr. old cinema series 35" which had the same problem. This older set is still performing, but it did need was internal color adjustments. The newer Toshiba has a slower tuner and takes about 2 seconds to switch channels when tuning antenna channels.

Toshiba CN36X81
I have CN36X81 for past 1.5 years. It has an exceptional picture quality and even the latest Sony and other HD televisions could not even come close to it.

Toshiba CN36X81
This TV has great color and good sound.
The picture geometry is terrible.
The picture tube phosphor is uneven and pigmented.
Areas of the screen have a red discoloration in different places.
All CN36X81's have this problem. I tried 2 before getting a Sony 36XBR400.

most bang for the book. great when used with a progressive
scan dvd player like the toshiba 5109.
