Excellent picture after ISF calibration; only problem is some distortion along
the far left edge in both "theater wide" and "full" modes. The picture also
seems to be slightly off-center, shifted to the left. But these are minor issues; overall, a great set. I only wish I'd waited for the 'X81.

Great TV, I sold my 32 Sony Trinton for half price just to have a reason to get this great TV, not to big, great picture, excellent quality.

None better. No better way to view anamorphic dvd. Period. Beautifully designed and equipped. Best TV I ever owned. Only HDTV has a better picture.

Excellent picture, especially through components with anamorphic DVDs!

Color is vibrant, and detail is amazing!


At a price below what most stores' cost ($1499), it just cannot be beat!

Simply awesome. Right out of the box this set performs flawlessly. DVD viewing is incredible. You won't find a scan-line on this tv! I ordered mine from www.onecall.com and couldn't say enough about it. I use component video to view DVD and S-video for my satellite and am still in awe of this machine. I've yet to calibrate with VE or an ISF tech. It's just too beautiful an image to even think it could get better.

The glare screen is a matter of preference but I like it. It doesn't take up alot of space but gives you plenty of picture. Watching TV is great too no matter what view mode you use.

I will never buy another 4:3 set again. You haven't seen DVD until you've seen anamorphic-widescreen.

Get this tv.

Comment about Toshiba TW40H80:

Poor build-quality.

The screen might have a watermark on it. It does not included in the warrenty. To repair this can take around $800.

Convergence board may burn out fast!

I bought a TW40H80 since Dec/1988, now is late Aug/1999. Now this TV set is still in the service center waiting for the convergence board.

May be I'm just a guy without luck and purchased a lemon!
