Sony KV-36FV1
TV is a piece of shit. Sony refused to stand behind their product. Problem with the TV right out of the box: band of discoloration (high contrast) along right side of screen; aboout 10 inches wide. Defect is obvious on all sources. Obviously a bad tube or electrical component in cabinet is too close to tube. Also had bubbles in front glass.

After purchasing over $4000 in Sony equipment this year alone, Sony's best answer to the problem was: be without your TV for 1-2 weeks while one of our tech's fixes it.

Avoid Sony like the plague. If they won't support a good customer with a complete Sony system, they won't give you the time of day if you own just one component.

Hue adjustment stinks; can't get even blues with Video Essentials.

bought it yesterday and cant ignore the fact that the picture is tilted to the left. this is most noticable on letter-box/wide screen format (and after all, if your spending $1600 for a 36 inch, isn't that the point!) On regular tv, there is definite distortion. i called sony, they admitted they are aware of the problem, but really didn't seem to care. "Well sir, two or three tv's out of the millions we sell isn't really that bad" Not unless you happen to buy one of those!

I am sending it back, maybe by a Toshiba.

I just got this set. It is now discontinued (07/99) so I got a good price.
The picture is distorted around the corners ; straight lines aren't so around the edges either.

I'm returning it - can't live with it !

Looks good though !!

Picture looks good but the color hue is pathetic! It's either too blue, too red or too green, depending on what channel you're tuned to. Wish I couyld get my old XBR back. It had much more realistic color. My advice...wait a couple years for the HDTV's and save your money

Best off air picture I've seen; VHS recordings played to this set
are better than SVHS played to my other set (Panasonic). 2 thumbs up.
