Pocono Mt Optics (OOB)
Prices were very good except two items were a couple of bucks higher than
the online catalog listed. Received the goods in acouple of days, packing
was excellent. I even piggy backed another item a day later at now extra
charge.

I have been very pleased with the service at Pocono Mt Optics. I have made 6 purchases from them and every transaction was a joy. On the one order where there was a slight mixup, PMO included a COMPLEMENTARY red LED flashlight.... and I wasn't even upset! I read a number of bizarre reviews of PMO which I assume might come from a disgruntled soul (or a competitor) but my experiences are all very positive with this company. It is one of my top three: PMO, astronomics and Astro Seven....all top notch outfits.

Very displeased with one of the salesmen that I spoke to on the phone very rude and it seemed like he didn't want to talk to me on the phone. I placed the order because I couldn't get the item anywhere else. It took 3 months to get it and they messed up the credit card transaction and proceded to tell me that they didn't get paid for the item and wouldn't ship it out but the card company showed on there records that they did and they called me and the credit card company liars. rating 3

This company needs a zero on the ratings. My experience was terrible from beginning to end. They were fine when I was placing a $2200 order, but a month after a three month wait for delivery, they acted like it was a big problem to check on my order status with the manufacturer. Have several other complaints but here's the kicker. They charged my card for the whole $2200 order when it was only half shipped. The rest of the order was backordered for an indefinate amount of time and I wanted not to be charged for what I didn't get. So instead of just crediting my account for the missing $700 worth of items, they charged $1500(for the items I did receive) to my credit card without doing a credit. Now my card was over the limit and I got an over the limit fee on the card. Then had to wait for the $2200 credit to get on the card before it was under the limit. When dealing with this problem, the sales staff was very rude. I called serveral times to try to speak to the owner but was put off. Wrote him a letter and never heard from him. So order from them if you want, but that is my experience.

I have ordered from Pocono over the last 2 years, and overall have been very pleased. However, I received a red-dot finder that would not aim properly and I feel the person I spoke to about this was less than helpful ... nearly rude. I was referred to the manufacturer to solve the problem. I mentioned that I had made most of my purchases from Pocono ($2500 and counting), and I may as well have been talking to the moon. I made some calls and found another vender that gave me the kind of answers I want when I purchase items from them. So, after 2 years of excellent sevice, it only took one equipment problem and a rude, arrogant rep to send me looking for a new vender to purchase from.

My two orders, both made over the Internet, were handled expediantly. They even beat (a well-rated store on the west coast) on the price of a Tele-Vue mount by $40. Shipping and handling were reasonable, and the equipment was packed VERY carefully. I cannot address the complaints about telephone service made by other reviewers.

My first call & order to Pocono to order a secondary holder. It was out of stock and said it would take ~3 weeks for them to ship it. After ~4 weeks I called to find out the status of the order. The person on the phone was very good at tracking things down, but had no explination why the item was apperently never ordered from the mfr! They checked the mfr's stock and since they had some, offered to have them item drop shipped direct to me.

Item finally arrived, but it was clearly defective. The tip of the holder was bent and the besel was off center and covered so much of the mirror it effectively reduced my 1.83" mirror to something slightly less than 1.5". Yuck!. Strange thing was this came from a highly respected ATM component supplier!

This is no fault of Pocono's of course, but but I called and stated I would like to return it for a refund because I didn't want to wait another 4 weeks for something I can't be sure is going to be "right" when it finally comes. They completely understood and refunded my $$$ without any hesitation. I'm very pleased with the customer service and will likely order from them again, but will probably hesatate if it's not in stock due to apperent inedequacies of their back order system.

PURCHESD NEW NEXT STAR 8 FROM POCONO MT. OPTICS 10/12. I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH MOUNTING THE SCOPE TO TRIPOD. POCONO REPLACED THE SCOPE AND THE TRIPOD THE NEXT DAY NO QUESTONS. THEY GET A 10 FOR SERVICE.

They're usually the first place I'll contact to check on the availability and pricing of an item I'm interested in. It is true, however, that the level of service you get depends on who picks up the phone. "Dave" and "Larry" are the best. Overall, they're a pretty good outfit who stocks plenty of goodies, is competitively priced, and my shipments are always well-packed and promptly shipped. Strong recommendation.

Ordered multiple items over the internet and all came well packed in 2 days. Received confirmation of order - but, no tracking information. Found their website to have a broad product offering, unfortunately product information is limited on many items.

Good prices, good selection, good web service.

After reading the comments, it simply mystifies me why consumers rate Pocono (and other vendors) so highly for doing what you have a right to expect. Scores of 7, 8, 9, or 10 should be reserved for truly outstanding levels of customer service.

My experience with Pocono has not been as positive. After waiting endlessly for
a back-ordered item (obviously not the fault of Pocono), I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. 2 months and numerous e-mails later, no refund and no
response. Too many other reliable vendors out there to justify spending any future $$'s with this outfit.

I've had mixed results with Pocono. My last experience was not so good. Placed an Internet order and got an e-mail telling me the item was out of stock and would ship when in - no more information. I waited several weeks and finally tried to call them to find out when the item might ship. Tried both of their phone numbers for hours and got only busy signals, so I finally e-mailed them and cancelled the order. Ordered the same item elsewhere and had it in my hands in a few days. Otherwise, their service has been OK.

Great store. The kind of place you wish you lived close to. We went their one weekend, spent about 3 hours with a salesman picking through the floor models & gaining lots of knowledge. Afterwards, they brought a scope outside to show me & my fiance the sun.
They're hard to get through to on the phone sometimes but they never blow you off & won't try to sell you something you don't need-want. Shipping is awesome & the prices rival anyone else's. I always check them before making any purchases.
