Pocono Mt Optics (OOB)
I have placed about a dozen orders with Pocono Mt Optics from Australia. On the phone, the staff have always been polite and motivated. By mail, I always received concise, accurate responses from Glenn. On the one occasion I had a problem (foreign matter in an eyepiece), they replaced it. This is the US mail order company I recommend to others in Australia, particularly as their charge for postage is both reasonable and pretty close to the franked amount that appears on the parcel (unlike others I've dealt with). Reading the previous comments, of everyone's dealings with Glenn, I can't help wondering if Glenn isn't some kind of superman - there is nothing but praise from all who deal with him.

Purchased a Meade ETX 125-EC (with AutoStar, tripod, and case) as my first scope. Found them to be very helpful and accomodating.

Ordered an 8" SCT and was delivered within two working days. Found a problem with a part in the tripod and called the manufacturer and was told to submit a copy of the sales receipt and there would be a two week turnaround and I would also have to send the old part back at my expense. Glenn interceded and had the part next day aired. Great customer support.

I've just placed a few recent orders with Pocono. MOST of the time, the guy (Glenn?) was very helpful and friendly, but there's one guy there who was short with me and acted like he was doing me a favor by taking my money.

On two of the orders, at least one of the parts was out-of-stock. On the first part, he (Glenn?) called back and said their other store DID have the part and was shipping it to me. The second part would take 1-2 weeks to get - he said he would ship it to me free when it came in.

Over all, I'm pretty pleased. Their prices are VERY GOOD. I'll ask for Glenn next time if that grouch answers the phone.

Service was great. Completely answered all of my questions. Phone ordered equipment was split between two sales locations. First part arrived in two days, second in three. Their prices were competative. A pleasure to deal with.

The crew at Pocono has always treated me very well. They are knowledgeable, supportive, and have the products in stock at the right prices. They are always just an 800 phone call away. Shipment is always prompt. I consider Pocono a real astronomer's resource.

I bought a 10 inch Meade SCT from them in 1994, right before the SL-9 impacts on Jupiter. They had the scope I wanted in stock, I recieved it within 2 days and hav no regrets about doing business with them.

Bought Celestar 8 Deluxe. Salesman made good recommendations concerning C8 Delux vs C8. Also helpful with eyepiece selection. Would have given them a 10 but had one glitch. The scope was sent with the wrong eyepiece from Celestron. Celestron was quick to get a replacement eyepiece but Pocono (whom I called first) was supposed to check with Celestron and call me back. They never folllwed thru. Since I was able to get the probelm fixed and never called Pocono back to to see what they found I won't ding them too much. Overall I will gladly do buisness with them again.
