I myself find the image noticeably dimmer, but the planetary nebula themselves appear a bit brighter. I cannot make out any better detail, but the nebula does have a slightly better contrast. I prefer to keep the brighter image myself, so this rarely is used. When hunt for really faint PN, I do pull it out and move it over the eyepiece lens without mounting it, just to see if it will "pop" out better.

I have also used this on planets, and helps a bit too.

No expert, but this eyepiece never really performs all that great. Images are soft. When compared to a view by a 9mm Nagler (I know, unfair comparison but..) the Nagler was much better, as it should be for the extra $$. Eye relief is bad too.

Solid eyepiece in my 8" SCT. No ghosting, good eye relief.

Nice scope for quick peeks, but not for anything planetary. Moon is ok, of course color, but thats expected. You get nice tight stars, but a slight flaring to them. Possibly pinched optics, don't know.

Overall, a good value. But should have been on a nice alt-az mount.

I have had mine sine 1995, and its used as often as possible. I have been somewhat disappointed of the views, but I think its related to my accessories. When I first started using the scope, the views were wonderful. Compared to a 10", it was simply better. Compared to a 6" Astro Physics, well you could see Saturns ring look like a line someone drew with a pencil (this was when they were edge on). In my 8" Ultima, it was fuzzy, but seemed to go in and out. BUT, the scope did not cool down at all, so I'm confident it would have performed better.

Overall, happy with the scope. Would love to have it optically tested however, to back up the claims of "best 8" SCT ever".

6 = Value because it was expensive at the time.
